As I sit in a Coffeehouse, watching the rain pouring down while writing my article, I see student after student running to get to their class. They leave their dorm or apartment unprepared with nothing but their bag of expensive textbooks and most likely a laptop they saved up to buy. Below, I will give advice on how to keep yourself and your things dry on a gloomy day like the one I'm currently experiencing.

1. Umbrella

The first obvious choice is an umbrella. You can buy really cheap travel-sized umbrella's on Amazon. Sometimes you can even get a few for free when you visit booths at events. Always, always stock up because you never know when its going to be an annoyingly rainy day. (unless it says on the weather, but you can't always trust it)

2. Waterproof backpack

As something not often thought of, you should always aim for buying a waterproof backpack. Especially when you have at least $300 worth of books in your bag. It's worth the extra bit of money so you don't ruin anything you're carrying around, and they also hold up a lot better than most backpacks so you get more out of it.

3. Raincoat/rainboots

Raincoats and rain boots are another option for you to invest in, and there are quite a few options these days. They're not too expensive either, and for the boots you can ,visit your local shoe department. It's something you can just easily slip on over your clothes when you have to walk a good distance to your classes.

4. Timing

Try keeping track of the weather even if it isn't always very reliable, and see when it says the time span of when the right will hit. Time your walk to class before the rain hits if it isn't too long before the class. If you do get there early, you can spend that time working on homework you probably forgot to do the night before.

5. Get ready the night before

The night before, when you know it's going to rain, get your things ready so you don't forget them during your rush in the morning. Have your coat and boots set up by the door, and make sure you have an umbrella in a place you'll see on your way out. It's better to take a few extra minutes at night to prepare yourself than to rush as soon as you wake up.

6. Skip the makeup

To all of the woman, try to skip the makeup that day. Things will go much smoother when you're walking in the rain and down have to worry about your mascara running down your cheeks. If you really have to, bring your make up with you and do it before class. That way you can skip out on your face, well, running down your face.

7. Dress comfortably

The last and final tip I have for you... dress comfortably. It's gloomy, probably a little chilly, and you'll want to curl up in bed but if you wear something that's very comfy than your day should go slightly better than if you wear skinny jeans and a tank. Even when you get home, you don't even have to change. Just curl up and bet and put on your favorite rainy day movie.

We all have days that make us want to skip school when the weather isn't cooperating. If you follow these tips, hopefully, it will make your day just a bit brighter.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
