The struggle is real for college students when the time comes to register for courses for the upcoming semester. Choosing courses that fit your schedule is quite a tedious process as you have to close your eyes and ponder about the possible time frames and whether or not any of the courses will overlap with each other. As a student, I have constantly experienced the pressures of registration and being able to get into courses applicable to my major.
As a biology major, most of the courses are closed instantaneously and I have to constantly check whether or not the course will reopen. As a matter of fact, closed courses tend to occur in almost all majors. Honestly, registration is something that I usually look forward to because I enjoy planning for the future. As rigorously excruciating as it may sound, planning for the future is a great asset to have because you will be more prepared to conquer the “real” world once you graduate from college!
On the other hand, registering for courses causes students to panic as the courses close way early and they never get to take it when they wanted to. Not being able to register for a class delays a student’s potential academic goals and even graduation. In order to prevent such an adverse situation from occurring, it is imperative that students seek assistance from their academic advisors or major department.
The longer students delay their need for assistance, the more detrimental their academic career could be. Ideally, some courses will most likely open up once students realize that the class is not what they expected and they might not enjoy the company of the professor. Several factors are held accountable for the opening of classes but the realization of some students has a profound impact on course registration.
