Game Of White Houses: Election 2016

Political intrigue, veiled hostility amongst politicians, and civil unrest. Is it the United States or the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros? You be the judge.

Jeb Bush = Stannis Baratheon

House Bush has a dynastic history within the USA - starting with Lord George H.W. as president in 1989, continuing with Sir George W. in 2001, and now Lord Jeb. Jeb Bush seeks to take the Iron Throne - err, White House - from his brother's legacy.

Sounds familiar to a certain house's internal conflict within Westeros, does it not? Stannis Baratheon engages in a power struggle with his brother Renly Baratheon, the beloved scion of the Baratheon family. He truly believes that he is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne and employs ruthless tactics in his quest to secure it.

Hillary Clinton = Margaery Tyrell

Hillary Clinton is a Democratic candidate considered to be one of the current front runners for the party's nomination. Her extensive political experience ranging from First Lady to Senator and Secretary of State, makes her a very attractive candidate - all of this combined with the fact that she is one of the first women to have a legitimate chance at the White House.

Margaery Tyrell is the progressive and cunning Queen of Westeros, known throughout the Seven Kingdoms for her beauty and wit. A woman of the people, Margaery makes numerous philanthropic ventures into the city of King's Landing. A close relative of Margaery-- her brother, Loras - finds himself in compromising situations due to his sexual exploits, and Margaery deals with the political backlash from it. Hillary has certainly never had to deal with the consequences of a promiscuous loved one, that's for sure!

Donald Trump = The Night's King

Donald Trump is a lavishly wealthy business magnate seeking the Republican nomination for the upcoming election. His blunt and aggressive manner of articulation have won him an incredible sense of support among conservatives and moderates within the country. Particularly fond of walls, Mr. Trump has promised to erect a monolithic wall separating the USA from Mexico in an attempt to keep illegal immigrants from entering the country.

The Night's King is the enigmatic leader of the fearsome White Walkers, a mythical race of powerful creatures that thrive in the freezing recesses of the far north, capable of reanimating the dead to serve as soldiers. It possesses a commanding and intimidating presence and actively seeks to gain momentum as it makes its way for domination of Westeros and presumably, the entire world. Like Mr. Trump, the Night's King is also very involved with walls - though in its case, the Night's King must get around an enormous wall made of ice, one of a size that would make Trump drool.

Bernie Sanders = Daenerys Targaryen

Bernie Sanders is a Democratic candidate for the presidential election; a self-proclaimed "democratic socialist," Sanders has instituted a platform including free tuition for college students, financial reforms, expansion of welfare programs and protection of LGBTQ rights. His antithetical approach to modern government and liberal policies have earned him an incredible amount of momentum, particularly via means of social media.

Daenerys Targaryen is one of the last remnants of House Targaryen in the world. With the help of her undeniably devout Unsullied Army, close political advisors and dragons, Dany Stormborn leads a forceful march across Essos in an attempt to free the slaves of the "Free Cities" before eventually making her way to Westeros to claim the Iron Throne. Dany demonstrates a motherly care for her people, seeking to make life free and just for all. Just as Dany has the slavers of Essos feel the burn of her dragons' fire, corporate America is feeling the Bern as well.

The election is coming. Choose your favorite Westerosi for the Iron Throne of the White House!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
