Picture this ladies: You’re all alone on Valentine’s Day.
You don’t have a boyfriend and your Tinder matches keep messaging you to hang out. The only men you’ll be hanging out with are Ben and Jerry. Ugh, could it get any worse? Suddenly, there’s a knock at your door. You get up from your couch, put your ice cream on the side table, and walk cautiously towards your door. Then you open it and SURPRISE! Your squad has surprised you with chick flicks and chocolate!! Now, that’s a best case scenario. If you and your friends are down on your luck on ideas, then here are five fun ideas for you and your gal pals to do on V-Day!
1. Sleepover!!!
No matter how old you are, there’s nothing
more fun than a good old fashioned sleepover. Get your friends, some sleeping
bags (or just a comforter from your bed), and some cheesy romance movies and
let the fun begin!
OR
If you’re a fan of horror movies (and want to defy the sacred traditions of Valentine’s Day) watch the scariest (or cheesiest) horror flicks you can find on Netflix until you and your friends can’t watch anymore.
2. Spa Day/Night
There’s nothing like pampering
yourself and what a better day to do it than on Valentine’s Day! Since
Valentine’s Day is on a Saturday day this year, you can have a spa day or a spa
night! Many stores have Valentine’s Day themed body lotions, nail polishes and
even sponges on sale! I suggest finding a bucket, fill it with warm water, buy
some Epsom Salt (it’s super cheap and you can find it anywhere), and soak your
feet while you drink a warm cup of herbal tea. If you want your friends to join
in the fun, find some funky colored nail polish and give each other pedicures
(If you don’t like touching other people’s feet, then that’s totally cool; just
do your own)!
3. Do Some Community Service
Ladies, there are plenty of
charities out there and there are even more in Lubbock! As sorority girls, we
are involved (or not) in a lot of sororities. Now there are two ways to
approach this: One way is to do stuff with your own philanthropy. For instance,
some of my friends and I could go to the Ronald McDonald House and clean some
of their rooms. The other way is going out of your own way to do something that
isn’t related to your philanthropy, like going to the Senior Center or the
South Plains Humane Society.
4. Have an Anti-Valentine’s Day Party
Okay, so this could go along with
#1, but you have to admit that this sounds like a super fun idea. Here’s how it
works: Everybody brings a food dish, like a pizza or a side dish or whatever.
You can have board games or poker and it’s a great way to have some girl talk
without being interrupted by a boy. Just make sure you have a place to host
said party. I don’t think the CA’s will let you cook a full sized plate of
cookies in your dorm.
5. Go See a Movie
