The 2016 blizzard is over, and we're stuck with all this snow and ice. I’m sure you all had a good time “playing” in the snow. New York City has received 27.7 inches of snow. If you were trying to figure out what fun activities to do indoors the next time you're snowed in, look no further.
Working on a Project
Get your handyman or handywoman on. I’m sure there is something that needs to be fixed or assembled at home. Get your tools out with a glass of something that you love to drink and get to it.
My mother and I decided to finally assemble a small snowblower on Saturday when the snow was falling. After some trial and error and getting to used our cute red power drill reserved for our girls projects, we successfully assembled the snow blower. But then we realized that our little blower could not fight against the amount of snow outside. This project was a great activity to do, and my mother and I were our own handywomen.
Make it a Movie Day
Pop some popcorn and watch some movies. You have earned the right to be a couch potato. I’m sure there is a show that you need to catch up on, so watch some comedy, romance, science fiction, or action movies, and enjoy the relaxation.
Get your Cleaning On
This might not sound like a fun activity, but you’re stuck in the house and you know that the hamper is overflowing. I’m sure it is time to clean off the gunk on the kitchen stove. It might feel like work, but blast some music in the house and get a workout while cleaning to make it fun.
Cozy Up with a Good Book
There is probably a book on your nightstand that you’ve been dying to read, but never had the time. Well, now is the time. Get to reading when you're nice and cozy in your bed, just don’t fall asleep.
Fun in the Snow
No need to let all that good snow go to waste. It’s not an activity you can do indoors, but it’s so much fun. Build a snow man, or have snow wars by building a great snow wall and throwing snow balls at your family members. You can make snow angels and when your toes and fingers get frozen, then run inside and make some hot chocolate or a nice cup of tea.
Bake Something Amazing
My family is from the Caribbean, and my mother baked a Caribbean pastry called sweet buns, a bread sweetened with sugar and dry fruit. It tastes amazing and it makes the house smell so good. You can also bake a cake or some cookies.
Don't let a blizzard or snowstorm stop you from having a good time. The next time you are stuck in the house, you'll know what to do.
