From Hero to Zero Under Louis van Gaal

Louis van Gaal has been under a lot of criticism in his second year as coach of Manchester United and there's various reasons to consider for his own downfall at the club

Lack of forward options

United transfer dealing in the summer brought in Anthony Martial to only happily leave out Javier Hernandez "Chicharito" (Bayer Leverkusen) and James Wilson (Loan to Brighton & Hove Albion).

Surely Martial isn't doing half bad scoring 7 goals for the season so far, but you can admit that LVG missed out on the scoring machine that is Chicharito with Leverkusen this season. Scoring 19 goals in 22 matches in all competitions since joining the club from United late in the summer transfer window.

Rooney's Immunity

As captain, Rooney seems to be untouchable and in no danger of losing his place in the side. This has been Rooney's worst season to date, he has never failed to reach double figures in a season, but with two goals and no assists, that's in jeopardy.

Some suggest that his performances have been detrimental to the team and that they've looked better without him. He certainly isn't terrible, but Van Gaal's arrogance to not drop him is proving to be a mistake.

Clubs Expectations

The fans and the club itself wish to see themselves with a trophy at the end of the season, the club's storied tradition demands this. After the sacking of Moyes, the fans demand Van Gaal's men tearing up the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League and League Cup. This might seem a bit unrealistic, but under the enormous spending by the manager, the club expects this goal to be met. After all, it's the fact of life for any United manager, win it all.

Tactics

It's been obvious that Van Gaal's tactics haven't been working out with the squad over his tenure, the players haven't stuck to his famous "philosophy". Some fans have even complained, saying that Van Gaal is pragmatic and that his tactics are too dull. Making the footballers play like robots, not being allowed to improvise in the field.

The main problem has been making the star players play a "risk-free" style, with this leading to the squad's lack of creativity and edge. United's tradition and history for years was to play wide and be sharp at the flanks, lounging balls in the box, but there's no options for this now.

Odd Substitutions

Louis Van Gaal has had a history of bizzare substitutions from coaching Netherlands in the World Cup where he subbed out goalkeeper Cillessen for Tim Krul in a penalty shootout to coaching at his current club Manchester United subbing out Juan Mata for Nick Powell.

Powell, a player who had spent 16 months out of the first team, was nowhere near full fitness was subbed in at the 70th minute over the team's most intelligent forward in a very important Champions League match in which they ultimately lost and dropped down to the Europa League. No disrespect to the player but maybe if the team is losing 2-1 at the 70th minute, subbing out the most creative player in the field isn't the best option.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
