Friendship is complicated and everchanging; there are certain times in our lives that are clear transformations in the people we surround ourselves with and in the types of relationships we have with them. As a kid, friendship seems simple--friends are mostly chosen by your mom and she sets up all the times you hang out too! We start to get older and things become increasingly complex. Now there are birthday parties that not everyone in the class is invited to and groups start to form. Once we get to high school, lots of the groups are solidified, but some drama still seems to happen. You can find some of your best friends in these years.

College changes things. There's a different atmosphere once you get to this stage. People don't necessarily talk in class as much as you're used to. Odds are, you'll never see the person you sat next to in class freshman year in any other classes in the future. There are tons of ways to make friends in college, but it's not as effortless as it's been in the past.

I want to thank my best friends I met in high school who go to different colleges than me. I miss you guys every day and it's weird to think that our friendships are now long distance. Nothing compares to our sleepovers and ridiculous jokes that are always taken way too far (like past the point of being funny...). I love our memories and I'm so grateful that you guys care enough to make an effort to hang out still when we're able to; it's harder now that we don't all live 5 minutes from each other. I wouldn't trade you guys for anything.

Then there's the close friends I made in high school that go to college with me as well. Being able to continue seeing you all almost every day has been the best. Our friendships have stayed strong and helped me through the transition to a completely different kind of living--from high school to college--more than I can explain. You've been here through everything and I'm excited that I get to continue doing life with you all.

Finally there's the friends I've made in my short time in college. New friendships are so much fun and I'm happy to have met such great people. People that make me laugh, who I feel like I can tell everything to even though we haven't known each other that long. I can't wait for the experiences I know we'll have in these next few years and hopefully the rest of our lives.

These different types of relationships with people I've known and some I've just met are all unique and dynamic. What started out simple has morphed into an intricate arrangement of lives and friendships that continue to grow. Keeping up old friendships while continuing to meet new people can be challenging but in the end, it's worth it to have all different types and levels of friendship with great people.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
