Hey, you.

By now we know each other pretty well. We hang almost every day and we have gotten to be the best of friends. It is funny how life works that way. The most funny thing of all is that I barely knew you last semester. College is weird in the way that one second you could not know anyone at all and the next second you could be best friends with them. You came into my life when I needed you, whether I knew it or not. College is such a weird time in your life and it is very important to grow as a person during this time and to be making friends that you know will be by your side for the rest of your life.

At the start of this semester I knew I wasn't the same person I was last semester. I grew up and as this semester has gone on I have realized that more and more every day. I never expected us to be the best of friends that we are now. I knew who you were coming into this semester but I never thought I would know you more than just your name. Looking back now on this semester, I have no idea what I would have done if we didn't become the best of friends.

I have learned so much about you that I never thought I would know. We have spent countless nights in the library laughing over stupid stuff until 1 AM rather than doing our homework. I’m thankful for our breakfast, lunch, and dinner dates. I'm thankful for all the smiles and car rides we have gone on. Thank you for understanding me and loving me even though I might be a weirdo. I will be forever thankful for being put in some of the similar classes this semester because if we weren't in the same classes we might not be the best of friends that we are now.

Once this semester ends I know we will stay friends because the memories we have made in the short period of time that we have become friends are irreplaceable. The laughter we have shared will always stay close to my heart especially when I am across the pond next semester. I will never forget all the late night food runs to Trax or Aerie Cafe trying to spend all of Abby's dining dollars.

It saddens me to know that next semester I won't get to see you everyday but I know face time calls will be a weekly occurrence. I'll be able to look back on pictures of this semester and smile because you taught me what it means to have a best friend. Don't worry I won't forget about you when I am living in London next semester.

Once again, thank you.

I love you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
