15 Life Lessons From 'Friday Night Lights'
ET Online

Re-watching "Friday Night Lights" was one of the best decisions I could've made this summer break. If you were like me, you grew up cheering at Friday night football games and attending/watching football the rest of the weekend. Now, attending one of the greatest schools in Florida with an impeccable football team, it's hard to not show a little school spirit.

Just like our Seminole pride, the Dillon Panthers showed endless love to their football team. If you've ever seen this TV show, you've seen love, heartache, success, and failure time and time again. With only five seasons, this show gave their audience a team to root for, a town to call home, and endless life lessons to keep in mind.

Here are just a few of the life lessons I had the pleasure of receiving while watching this show:

1. Respect.

"Listen to your mother, you listen to her and you respect her; Women are to be respected." -Coach Taylor

2. Go to school and do your own work.

"The big deal is that it’s part of my job to make sure that you don’t grow up stupid, it’s bad for the world." -Tami Taylor

3. Try to be the best you possible.

"Listen to me, I said you need to strive to be better than everyone else. I didn’t say you needed to be better than everyone else. But you gotta try, that’s what character is, it’s in the try." -Coach Taylor

4. Always work as a team.

"Maybe the whole is greater than the sum of it’s parts." -Landry Clarke

5. Never give up.

"Well you’re gonna win or you’re gonna lose. Either way, the sun’s gonna come up the next morning." -Tami Taylor

6. Be humble and grateful; success will follow.

"We can either win together or we can lose alone. And I know it sounds stupid but it is an honor just to stand in here with y'all." -Landry Clarke

7. Don't get hurt by what other's say.

"You never know what’s going on with somebody sweetie, don’t take it personally." -Tami Taylor

8. Happiness is the greatest gift of all.

"You cant put a price tag on happiness." -Grandma Saracen

9. Love is our greatest weakness and strength.

"Love makes us kind of stupid." -Lyla Garrity

10. Nothing compares to coming home.

"All I wanted to do was come home." -Tim Riggins

11. Trust your gut.

"You listen to people that love you and you listen to people that you trust. But most of all, you listen to yourself." -Coach Taylor

12. Never be afraid to reach for your dreams.

"I want an interesting and surprising life. It’s not that I think I’m gonna get all these things. I just want the possibility of getting them. College represents this possibility. The possibility that things are gonna change. I can’t wait." –Tyra

Collette

13. Believe in yourself the way others do.

"But I know one thing with all my heart, that you are gonna have everything that you are dreaming of. You’re gonna get everything you’re reaching for honey, you are, and I want you to keep reaching; One of these days you're gonna surprise yourself, you'll see. I won't be surprised, but you will be." –Angela Collette

14. God may not give you what you want, but he'll give you what you need.

"Right here, right now, God has placed you to do what you do best. Go all the way." -Coach Taylor

15. Keep your eyes on the prize.

"Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose." -Coach Taylor

"Here's to God and football; Texas Forever."

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
