Your freshman year of college can be the most thrilling and terrifying time in your life. You thrust yourself into the unfamiliar and patiently await that "freedom" phase to kick in so you can finally have some fun. If you really think about it, you can see some "stellar" similarities between Disney Channel Original Movies and your recollection of freshman year.

1. Scuffling around campus on the first day like:

My expectation is to avoid the scary seniors and all their Zeta-Beta-Rho-Delta intimidation tactics.

2. You know the upperclassmen are judging your bug-eyed gaze, but you're giving yourself the best Brenda Song pep-talk of your life.

3. But really you're freaking out because you don't know where any of your classes are, and all you can think is:

4. Eventually you get over it, and keep moving: chin held high, two-strapped shoulders, and lanyard firmly in place around your neck.

5. Then you see the sorority girls in their buttons and spirit jerseys looking fly af.

6. You're finally getting the hang of things, and making sure you cross the same path as your crush/friends/that one professor you kinda kiss up to.

7. You try your hardest to avoid the rabid squirrels and their needy, fry-possessing selves.

8. You get used to the dorms and start inviting people over to your hangout sesh.

Yeah, Pat. How about it?

9. Annnnd then you get in trouble with the Resident Advisor and blow it off like you didn't just pee yourself.

10, And when your parents ask how your grades are looking...

11. Your hardest professor asks the same question every time he returns your quiz:

Yes, sir. Yes, I do. I've got this sneaking suspicion you're making me that way, though.

12. And then your friend who actually likes this class asks how on Earth you missed number 7.

"One sin minor and my life is a living black hole!"

13. You go to your first college party.

14. But you're really not sure how to fit in and look cool.

15. So you try to make conversation with the still-goth girl standing next to you:

16. By your second party you've got that perfect outfit picked out, complete with 90s-vintage choker and midriff.

17. When the prof asks if you and your classmates are ready for the first exam:

18. And somehow you come out with a B+.

19. Remember when you let your cosmetology major friend cut your hair?

20. And you attempted intramural sports, proving the reason you never played in high school.

21. When you see your worst enemy in the caf:

22. Soon, you start making valuable friendships and can finally be your crazy self

23. I mean, you learned from the best grandma on television.

24. All the upperclassmen make fun of your winter gear on the way to class every day.

25. But your whole squad sticks together so you can say your opponent is

26. Learning that you don't have to look cute every day, so you roll out of bed like

27. Trying to finish up your final exams so you can call freshman year over with.

28. Finally, you end the year with a new home, new friends, and excitement for round two.

Here's to freshman year and the wild ride that is college.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
