With the end of the fifth week of school, pressures are at an all-time high. The notable "Penn State plague" is spreading throughout campus, midterms are in full swing, and everyone is starting to lose their minds. The caffeine is no longer keeping you awake, the Advil isn't getting rid of your headaches anymore, and you can barely sleep at night without taking a bunch of melatonin. Where do you turn? Well, I have a little secret for you! For thousands of years, ancient civilizations have utilized the vibrations and powers of crystals to clear physical, mental, and spiritual blockages. They believe when directly placed on the body, these energies have a powerful effect on you and can have various healing benefits. So whether you believe in these theories not, here's a list of crystals that may help you clear your head, feel better, and help you get back on a path to accomplishing your goals. I mean, what do you have to lose?

Amber - The Stone for Colds

Amber is known for its health and healing benefits. Amber can protect you from incoming infections, such as strep throat, and help you heal from current infections. It is also been said amber can help you lessen the duration of an illness or a cold.

Amethyst - The Stone for Stress

Spiritualists say that keeping an amethyst stone by your bedside or on your desk can help you release negative energy and keep you focused. It is believed that it can help you think clearer. This is because it helps calm the nervous system, which allows you to feel relaxed and at ease. It also can be used for spiritual healing and growth, and even help overcome addictions!

Fluorite - The Stone for Organization and Mental Clarity

Fluorite is said to be one of the best stones for students, being that it is known as the "Stone of Discernment and Aptitude". It is believed that fluorite helps improve memory and focus. It also enhances students ability to retain what they have learned and improve how they process the new information. Some students have said that when they have carried this stone to a test, they felt more confident about their performance!

Turquoise - The Stone for Peacefulness and Communication (such as Public Speaking)

Turquoise has a strong effect on your throat chakra (the chakra associated with speech and hearing) and therefore, is believed to have a strong effect on communication skills. People who have difficulty getting their points across or speaking in front of a room of people have said to have benefitted from this stone. The natural energy of this stone promotes truthfulness as well, which can lead to the feeling of a clean conscience and peacefulness.

So what ever stone you may choose, hopefully, one of them can bring you some positive energy into your daily life. Namaste.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
