What Happens When You Forget What Day It Is

Literally the worst thing that can happen.

Do you ever just forget what day it is? Well, I do and it is the worst thing imaginable. You go about your day like it is any other Thursday. You get up, drink some coffee, and go about your daily life. But, there is a problem. It isn't Thursday. It's Friday! Forgetting what day it is is literally the worst thing that has happened.

I tend to always lose track of my days. I don't know why I do this, but it has become a terrible habit of mine that I hope to get rid of. And I know what you are probably thinking. 'Danielle, why don't you have a calendar or something?' Well, the funny thing is that I do. I have two in fact, but they do not seem to help me with my time management skills or whatever.

The first thing that happens to me when I find out that I mixed up my days is that I freak out. 'Did I really just forget to do that thing?' 'I only have 15 minutes to submit this paper! Why?' I rush to get whatever it is that I need done. But if there isn't enough time, and there is the option of turning it in late, than I am all for it!

Forgetting what day it is can really screw up your day. You think that it is Saturday, but it is actually Sunday, and that thing that you have that is due on Sunday, but you don't realize that it is in fact Sunday until it is too late. I know, it is confusing. But so is thinking that it is Saturday when it is really Sunday! You see, this is why things shouldn't be due on weekends!

When you are on vacation, you do not have the energy to care about what day of the week it is and it is beautiful! I wasn't aware of what weekday it was for the whole three months of summer vacation! When I went back to school, I still didn't know what day it was. Actually, if I am being completely honest, every day of the week I don't know what day it is. Am I bad at dates? Yes. Does this make me a useless human being? Most likely.

We are all so busy in our lives that the concept of dates and weekdays just happen to slip our minds. If you are someone like myself, i.e. a person who cannot remember when Thanksgiving is, let alone what day it is, than actually keeping track of what day it is or when things are due is a lot harder than people are willing to understand. Our minds have to keep track of so many different dates and times and events and so on, and the fact that we get so much grief for forgetting what day it even is is astonishing.

People forget things! Wow, shocker! I personally forget things all the time. It isn't a crime, and people shouldn't be so uptight about it. We are all functional people, who try their very best, and will sometimes fall a little bit off the handle. Forgetting what day is it is not a big deal. You are not going crazy and it happens to the best of us.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
