For Those Who Consider Themselves Lost

It's okay to not know what you're doing right now.

For Those Who Consider Themselves Lost
Julianne Wood

If there is anything that I have learned entering the world of "adulting" that has been reassuring, it's that it's perfectly okay to be lost in life. We're often so rushed into college and figuring what we are going to be doing with our lives when we haven't even figured out who we actually are. The best place to start is looking for a path to create for yourself, specifically one untraveled.

After high school, I among the majority of my class went to college. My freshman year was a lot of fun. It was definitely an experience everyone should be apart of- you grow and learn so much. But I didn't feel right with my career path I had chosen to follow. I felt art was more of a hobby of mine, rather than something I wanted to make a career out of, let alone rack up thousands of dollars worth of student debt on. So after freshman year I decided to move back home, get my own apartment, and get a job until I can figure out who I am and what it is I truly want to do in life.

I thought I had known who I was in high school, but the truth is I had no idea who I was until I saw the world for what it is.The world is a truly difficult, yet beautiful place. You are sheltered from quite a bit in high school it's nearly impossible to predict what you want to do with your life, what mark you want to leave on the world. So since I moved home, I have been taking in every bit of the world I touch and painting this canvas that will one day be a finished piece titled "Me".

Whether college is your route to discovering who you are, traveling the world right out of high school, dropping out until you know who you are, or not even going to college- whatever your path is just keep you in mind. For me personally, taking my own route to figuring out my future has been extremely beneficial for me. It's given me the space I need to figure out who I am (a journey still in progress I might add), it's given me the ability to learn to support myself, explore things on my own time, and just live. I've figured out that helping people is my passion, and I am taking opportunities that allow me to explore just that. I still don't know what I am doing but I am moving forward each moment I explore.

So for those of you who feel completely lost right now, the most important thing to keep in mind is that whether you know what you're doing in life or not- moving forward is key. Being lost is a lot of fun because you can never lose, and your opportunities are endless. Taking steps forward and searching for opportunities for growth will help boost your happiness and keep your eyes open to anything, and eventually lead you to what you are meant to do in the world. Until then, hang tight and enjoy the ride and it's many sights!

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
