This Is For The Christian

God is mad at me.

This Is For The Christian
Ashley Barrentine

So many of us roam around in our busy lives with God in the back of our minds. We have this mindset that tells us as long as we do good, God will continue to love us. However, when we sin, God is mad at us. I thought this for a couple of years until I came out of that tainted mindset and realized it is completely wrong.

First of all, let me tell you where that mindset comes from. It comes straight from our biggest enemy, satan. I know this comes from satan, because as soon as I left the realm of this mindset, I started getting shot with satan’s bullets of temptation more than ever before. The fact that I started to understand God’s love for me infuriated the enemy.

Now I am here to tell you that God is not mad at you. God has righteous anger and it was displayed when He wiped out the whole earth EXCEPT for Noah, Noah’s family, and two of every species of animals. That is the part that we miss; God still made a way for mankind to continue on. The same is true for Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. God created them to multiply and be in fellowship with Him, but they disobeyed by eating from the Tree of Knowledge. They were worthy of God’s wrath, but God allowed them to live out of love. He did not even send them out of the garden because of their sin, but because He knew they would eat from the Tree of Life. He could not trust them, yet His love for them did not change. Just as Satan tempts us to believe that God is mad at us, the fall of man was influenced by Satan’s temptation.

The good news now is that God provided the ultimate connection to Him. He became a human in the form of His son, Jesus, and allowed us to torture and kill Him. Little did we know, we were killing the One that would soon intercede for us. He would be our way to the Father. In my opinion, God should have righteously killed us and ended it. That did not happen because our purpose is to be in fellowship with Him. God orchestrated a plan to make that possible. Consider it this way: you invite someone into your home and they steal every valuable you own, but you absolutely love that person so you allow them to stay. You forgive them because you want to be with them. This does not even compare to the love God has for us. No matter what happens, God loves us and wants to be with us.

It is important, however, to remember what God tells us in Romans chapter six. “What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?” (Romans 6:1-2 NIV). God still desires that we repent of our sin and seek a life of righteousness in Christ. I say all of this to say that God is not mad at you. Realizing that God wants to be with me gave me new eyes through which I see the world. I hope this viewpoint will help you take God’s love radically and that it will motivate you to get out there and share it with others. I want to close with this well-known verse. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 NIV).

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
