This week I have been struggling with the realization that my future is happening now, running towards me. When I was younger, college seemed so far away, so distant, and now the application process is here. I have been meditating upon this verse, and have found much comfort in this as I am crippled with anxiety.
Jeremiah 29:11 reads, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
We live our lives in constant fear and worry for what the next day will bring, yet instead, we should place our trust in the Lord, in that He knows our lives serve a purpose, and our lives are intentional. You are here to fulfill His plan, not dwell upon an endless cycle of "what if's?" The Lord of all cares so much about you that He hold you in His hands, calls you His child, and has a plan for your life. How profound is this!
My life is not mine, my life is His. I do not have to place pressure upon myself to validate my success on grades and college acceptance, yet I can place my hope in Christ, knowing whatever will come my way, I cannot be shaken, because I cling to Christ. Whatever comes my way, I know it is for the building of His kingdom.
The Lord also asks in Matthew 6:27, "And which of you by being anxious can add a single day to your life?" Our lives are not to be swallowed up in fear, yet they are meant to be a living sacrifice for Him, knowing He will provide in every circumstance. We are to rely on Christ and have confidence in His promises.
Drowning yourself in worry is meaningless, for His promise is to not bring danger to you. You are His beloved child. We can confidently declare that we have hope because of Jesus Christ, no matter what we may face in the days to come.
What beauty is it that we can have hope in Christ! His provisions for our lives are something so beautiful, we just have to be willing to surrender to His will, and relinquish control of our lives. He has done amazing miracles through those who confidently said, "Lord, use me for you will!" He can do amazing things through you, you just need to have faith in His plans, for they are far greater than our own.
So as I sit behind my computer and type college admission essays, I now realize that no matter where I am accepted, the Lord already knows what He will do with my life.
I will confidently say, "Lord, use me and my life for your will!" I just have to let Him guide me, which is the most scary, yet wonderful statement we can ever say.
The future is coming, yet we do not have to worry, for we have Christ, and He has a plan for us.
