An Open Letter To My Boyfriend's Family,
I know that we all have not been a part of each other’s lives for too long, but it seems as if I have been around for a long time. I was so nervous the first time that I met each of you, but you made it as easy as can be. I immediately felt comfortable and that I could be myself. One of the most exciting parts of a relationship is becoming close to and developing a relationship with the parents and siblings. Unfortunately, on many occasions, that doesn’t go as planned and everyone doesn’t fully get along. But I am extremely blessed and lucky to say that I am not one of those people. I want to thank you for warmly welcoming me into your family and for providing me with a welcoming feeling each time I see each of you.
Dinners at your house with us all always make me smile. Everyone seems to be laughing and enjoying each other’s company, and that is something I truly enjoy. I have never felt awkward or uncomfortable or that I couldn’t be myself around all of you and I am so thankful to have that with you all.
Thank you for being some of the biggest supporters of my dreams. As you all know, I have had a rough year with school. I have been knocked down numerous times and it has been a rocky road. But you all have had nothing but encouraging words to say and helped picked me back up. Without all of the support you all have given me, I don’t know if it would be as easy to be okay that my life is not going as planned right now.
Thank you for raising such an amazing son. Your son is my best friend. He never fails to put a smile on my face or make me laugh. He has had such an amazing upbringing and I am forever grateful that he is all mine. The way he treats me is beyond what I could have ever imagined and I want to thank you for raising him to be the great guy he is.
I will never hurt him. Through the years, I have experienced horrible heartache. No matter how bad I was hurting, I never reciprocated that feeling and I would never want to. He is safe with me. He is my whole, entire world and I never want to see him hurt in any way, shape or form. I promise to you that I will never break his heart, for I would be breaking my own.
Most importantly, thank you for letting me date him and share my life with him as well as you all. I have had the best time getting to know each and every one of you and I am so blessed to have gained a second family. You all have been a great support system and I can’t wait to get to spend more and more time together throughout the years.
