Many of us are aware of the recent fear and anxiety that Americans have been feeling. Either it be due to what's happening abroad or what's happening here, we are all frightened of what is to come in the next few years. What can we do as citizens to make an impact in our rapidly changing world? Why should we go to college if we only end up with mediocre jobs? What if I can't afford college? Our First Lady, Michelle Obama, puts so eloquently in her final speech statements that we all need to ponder. Especially this generation, with an outstanding percentage of youth growing rapidly into becoming adults.

Michelle Obama emphasizes in her speech that in making a success of oneself, no one person can have everything. Not everyone will have exceptional circumstances or finances, but what one makes of themselves now is because of the work put into one's education and using it to reach our utmost potential that could lead to greater things down the line. Education is key in making something of oneself and one's future. There should be no doubts of hope when opportunity awaits and there is nothing else to push you towards it but yourself.

Do not let the world's chaos tear down dreams and aspirations you want for yourself. Let the world be your stage and do not be afraid to speak up or go out of your way to get where you want to be in life. Do not let anyone discourage you or sway you away from the path you deem is meant for you. Do not let labels hold you back. Do not let discrimination or prejudice blind you from seeing your true greatness.

For my generation, I hope we all are "more focused" than ever, in going back to the First Lady's speech. I hope we all work to the best of our abilities to achieve a better life not only for ourselves, but for the world and the people around us. We all have so many resources to pull from and use to make a difference and change. We all just need to find in ourselves to not just live a life counting down the days, but one of gratitude and respect in ourselves that we did something extraordinary. All of us in this beautifully diverse country have different ideas and skill sets that could change the course of history. We all have a purpose in this lifetime and it's just up to us to find it in ourselves and make use of our talents.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
