6 Foods You Have To Eat At The Florida Strawberry Festival

The Florida Strawberry Festival is an 11-day event that takes place in Plant City, Florida. Over 5000,000 people visit the festival each year to enjoy the rides, concerts, games, and food. Here is a list of some of the foods that you MUST try.

1. Fiske Fries

For over 40 years, Fiske Fries have been creating a huge buzz around the festival. Their fresh fries are known for being dusted with salt and drenched with vinegar. It may sound strange, but I promise these fries will change your life.

2. Brandon Farms Strawberry Milkshake

As a Plant City native, it is my duty to support my friend's family business. Ashlyn Gude and her family make the BEST strawberry milkshakes I have ever had. They are the perfect amount of thickness and have never disappointed me.

3. Island Noodles

If you are looking to shy away from the typical "fair food" options, Island Noodles are for you! The freshly made Soba noodles are stir-fried with various vegetables, garlic, and ginger. This dish is completely vegan unless you are like me and like to add the chicken on top!

4. Strawberry Shortcake

It wouldn't be right to attend the strawberry festival without eating the famous strawberry shortcake. Biscuit or cake, whip or no whip, it doesn't matter! The festival has it all. Each year, guests are willing to wait in long lines just to have their own taste of Plant City heaven.

5. Amish Donuts

Peachey's Baking Company makes the best donuts in the world. Made right in front of your eyes, the donuts are dripping in glaze and will make your mouth water just by looking at them. The smell is enough to make you want to purchase a whole dozen! My family loves to get extra donuts to take home to eat the next morning for breakfast. I have to admit, they are the best when you eat them when they are hot and fresh at the festival.

6. Strawberry Dole Whip

If you're looking for a dairy and gluten free treat, this is for you. The Hawaiian Hones Cones stand sells this 100% organic dessert that is so refreshing. You can also get the pineapple flavor if you feel like you have already satisfied your strawberry craving.

The Florida Strawberry Festival will be taking place in Plant City, Florida from February 28, 2019, to March 10, 2019. Make sure to show up with an empty stomach and a big appetite!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
