Being a 20-year-old grandma in a college town is often a challenge. While the majority of your friends find themselves rushing through their "to-do" lists so they can hail the local bar with the best drink deal, you find yourself looking forward to a glass of wine and a really good book. Pub happy hour just doesn't sound as appealing as an afternoon spent with your best friend jamming to some records. If any of this sounds like you, you may just be a college grandma too.

1. "Shopping" consists of a trip to the book or record store.

Instead of hitting the mall for a cute outfit for downtown, you find yourself debating over which book to buy (even though you have an endless pile of books waiting to be read already). Who has time for heels when there are so many good records waiting to be bought?!

2. You can count on one or two hands how many times you've been out this semester.

Loud music and drinks spilled all over you? No thanks. I prefer my music at a normal decibel and my drinks in my cup, not all over my body.

3. Two words: arts and crafts.

The key to any 20-year-old grandma's heart is definitely a trip to the craft store (and an unlimited credit card). Your Pinterest board is organized and ready. So many DIY projects, where do you even begin?!

4. You like your pets more than you like people.

You may be the stereotypical "cat lady" or you may be like me and be overly obsessed with your canine companion, but having a furry best friend is definitely an attribute of a 20-year-old grandma. It gives you the perfect excuse to stay in bed all night when your friends beg you to come out for free drinks. "I can't go to the bar... It's my dog's half-birthday."

5. You find yourself constantly trying to feed your friends.

I recently realized that every time a friend comes over, I try to stuff a snack down their throat before they can even say hello. It may not be the stereotypical "grandma's cookies," but you love whipping up some magic in the kitchen for everyone you know.
