On this road we call life, as cliche as it may sound, we often find ourselves losing our way. At times we close ourselves off from the world, forgetting the essence of happiness, and lose our passion for life and all it has in store for us in the process. We may become so enamored with our schedules, so focused on what we should do, that we just about forget what it is that makes life so great. To remind those who may need an optimistic outlook, here are five reasons why life is truly beautiful:
1. Life Is Spontaneous
People tend to adhere so closely to their day to day schedule that they forget how spontaneous life really is. It may be a typical school or work morning. You are ready to make the commute, when suddenly, a clap of thunder halts your objective. The clouds didn't think about what it is you had to do that day. This may be a difficult thing to appreciate, but when you think about it, if today you can be met with the worst news without warning, you can also be met with the best. We will never know what will happen in the next day, hour, or even second of our lives. Knowing this allows us to appreciate the present; thus, giving us a chance to be guided by whatever life has in store for us, without constantly worrying about the future or losing hope when things seem to become too repetitive.
2. Life Is Fleeting
To know life is fleeting is probably fearful for many; however, it is also a good way to remind us to live life to its fullest. I'm not going to quote any sort of modern motto from a certain popular rap song, but it is a true statement nonetheless. We are unsure of what it is that happens after our deaths, so it is best to just assume that we must do everything that makes us happy. This isn't exactly a mantra for recklessness, just motivating words for those who feel that life is either too long or worrisome. Our lives are terminal, so why not know how our stories play out until the very end? The fact that life doesn't last forever makes it all the more necessary to cherish.
3. Life is Mysterious
When it comes to things we know about life and the universe, we know practically nothing. Within our lifetime, we come to understand how shrouded in mystery our past truly is. Even more so, we do not know much about our purpose, surroundings, and the outlook of our species. Since we are curious by nature, there is nothing more satisfying than knowing there is so much more to discover. We may feel that we have seen and heard it all, but as soon as we achieve a meta-cognitive state, we begin to look at things a bit differently. The world shows much promise, even more so than we tend realize.
4. Life Is Wondrous
In our every day lives we may forget about all of the wonders of this world. We may not be as interested, or rather, not as convinced that life is wondrous at all. Even if we do tend to forget this truth, it is still never too late to immerse yourself in the beautiful opportunities that life has to offer. It could be as simple as seeing the Niagara Falls, or as daring as experiencing a road-trip with your friends. At some point, we will all find that one thing that makes us stare at the world in awe.
5. Life Is Conformable
Everyone is greatly affected by the passage of time, physically or mentally. However, at one time or another, we must take ourselves out of the loop of order and do things spontaneously as well. We can't always rely on the irregularities of life. Even if our lives are finite, we shouldn't be too distressed by time itself, always thinking we must get one thing done by noon and another by 6 p.m. By acknowledging this, we can sit back and take a breather. We don't have to work at that place, we don't have to talk to that person, we don't have to live in this town forever. Realize that we are capable of changing things as individuals, even if life is always changing in itself. In short, life, at times, is really what you make it.
These beautiful aspects of life are but some of many. By reminding ourselves of the fact, we may begin to look at life quite differently. During all of my times of despair, I always needed to be reminded of some of the simplest things in order to gain the motivation to change my attitude and keep appreciating life for what it is.
