So, How Was Your First PSU Football Game?
Devyn Sax

Your first Penn State football game! Was it all you wanted and more? I remember my first Penn State football game as a student; it was one experience I will never forget, from waking up early to get the tailgates, from awaiting the delicious chicken basket you will purchase upon arrival at Beaver Stadium.

The one thing that I find so special about Penn State football games and any other Penn State sporting event is that everyone in the stands shares something in common. Each person there has an immense love and passion for Penn State. Whether it is because of family members who have attended, or maybe even because they are the first generation to attend. There is really nothing like it. It is indescribable to people who have not had the chance to experience something like this.

We are so lucky that we get to experience these games each and every year. They bring the PSU community together and make being a Penn Stater so special.

I grew up in a house where my mom raved about the university. She herself attended this amazing school. I grew up knowing the ins and outs of Penn State and Penn State Football. When I attended my first game ever, I was very young. At that point in my life, it was just another sporting event. It had no meaning other than, "My Mommy went here, she loves Penn State." As I grew older and older, I realized that I wanted to become a part of this place.

What do you know... years later, I finally got the chance to make it a part of myself. There is nothing like Penn State Football. No matter what anyone tells you. The energy in the stands and throughout the town of State College... There is absolutely nothing you could compare it to. 107,000 strong take the stands of Beaver stadium each and every game. We are here to support our school, we are here to make memories and lasting friendships, We Are PENN STATE!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
