I have been looking forward to voting for a president since I was in the fifth grade. I wanted the first president I voted for to be someone who would make great strides in the United States. Someone who would try to unify us and make it a safer community. A person who could turn the economy around. Instead, it's 2016 and one of our presidential options is a compulsive liar and the other wants to create a wall to block people out of our country. These two options I have make me concerned for the future of this country.
I hate discussing politics, but I feel as though this needs to be discussed immediately. Instead of growing as a country, we are becoming weaker. Both of the options we have to choose from are horrible. I have watched several news sources and they have all discussed how we just need to vote for the person we think will cause "the least amount of damage," to us. Shouldn't we do more than just vote for the least harmful?
The scariest part of this election is that some people really do support Clinton or Trump. Obviously I favor one over the other, but both parties could cause some serious damage to this country. Wars are breaking out all around us, people are dying and the economy is falling. What are we doing about it? Voting for the person who will do the least amount of harm. We should be fighting to find a candidate who will turn things around.
While I am disappointed about the choices I have been given for this election, I am trying to gain an understanding into other people's minds. Some wanted to vote for Trump or Clinton to begin with. I saw posts on Facebook about how thrilled people were for Trump to "make America great again," and how people were stoked to see what it would be like to have our first female president. While I think a woman being president would be fantastic, I don't think Hilary would make the best first female president. I think I think Donald Trump would make America just down right horrible.
So, with all this in mind, what's the plan America? Who will do "the least amount of damage?"
