Well it seems as though the presumptive nominees for each political party have been set, and we have the best of the best in each realm of the political spectrum.
Wait....what? We have the two most disliked candidates in political history? Well, that's something.
Yes, it's true: Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump seem to be overwhelmingly preferred to represent the American people this November, where one of them will be either the first female president of the United States or the first orange president of the United States. We have been discounting Trump's presidential run since he came down that famous escalator in June 2015 and been expecting Hillary to run since most of us learned to speak.
These are our choices. I know many Bernie supporters who could never imagine supporting Hillary, and many conservatives who were proudly part of the #NeverTrump movement. However, it seems as if these political movements have been blocked. But now, as the general elections season looms, will voters swallow their pride and pick a candidate? Or will they just stay home?
This begs the questions, "Well what is the worst he/she could do?" Would Trump send us into World War III? Would Clinton give more tax breaks to billionaires and be bought out by special interests? These are the questions we have to ask ourselves. This choice is made even more difficult when we are given two candidates who constantly flip-flop on their positions and even their personalities. Will we get the Donald Trump who is calm and collected and feels for working class people? Or the Donald Trump who incites violence with people who don't agree with him? Will we get the Hillary Clinton who pushes legislation to ensure Americans have health care? Or will we get the Hillary Clinton who supports regime change and votes for the Iraq War?
Even some Republicans are moving over to vote for Clinton, in order to stop Trump. Republicans are ostracized for even saying a nice word about Hillary Clinton, let alone giving her their vote. This shows the deep divide and hatred for Donald Trump in the Republican Party. The #NeverTrump movement was so determined that they were supporting TED CRUZ (the Zodiac Killer) to be their nominee. And Democrats were pushing Clinton in order to continue President Obama's legacy, but more often than not, President Obama highlights the policies of Bernie Sanders, like infrastructure repair, income inequality, Wall Street regulation, and liberal social policies.
It's time for you to weigh the pros and cons; I can't do that for you. What I will say is that handing over this election to Donald Trump and the Republican Party is almost a promise for regression in our social culture. We would see more laws like the ones in North Carolina. We would see more laws and less freedom of the press. We would see hatred from countries all over the world and especially the Muslim and Latino communities. I'm not endorsing Hillary Clinton, but which way do we want to see this country go?
This may all sound like a tough choice, and it is. So just sit back, watch the nonsense and be like me and say:
