When preparing to go on a first date, there are many things that should be kept in mind. Although you want to be sure you smell nice and look good, there are many things you should and shouldn't do on the date. Here are some basic do's and don'ts that everyone should do... or not do while on the first date.

Don't over dress

Be sure that you are aware what you are doing and where you are going so that you can dress appropriately.

Don't assume that you're always paying

Now don't get me wrong always carry money just in case, but when all else fails go into the date with the golden rule in mind: whoever does the asking out is the person paying. We are in 2016, although most guys continue to do the asking out, girls if you ask him out that does put you in the position to pay.

Don't make it fancy or overly complicated

First dates should be fun! You are just starting to really get to know each other, explore options such as paintballing, bowling or go-carting. Even if your date is a bust, at least you'll know that the date activity itself was a good time.

Don't talk too much

No one wants those awkward silences, but be cautious not to be overbearing with the talking. It's not all about you.

Don't bring up the past

Remember this is the first date. Don't spill the tea and talk about past relationships or your personal problems because this is a date not a therapy session.

Don't assume you're automatically a couple

This is the first date, not your wedding day. Don't make assumptions or think too far ahead. Enjoy the moment and save the over analyzing for later.

Do be yourself

You want your date to like you for who you are right? Then be yourself, that way if you don't click you'll know it from the start and won't waste either of your times.

Do be honest

If your life is basic be honest. Who cares if you haven't been skydiving or backpacking through the rain forest, you are still interesting. Also, be honest with yourself and your date, if by the end of the first date you are sure that you aren't interested tell your date. You are not obligated to go on a second date.

Do get to know the person

Actually listen to the other person and get to know them. By the end of the date, you'll know if you even want to even bother with a second date or not.

Do have a good time

Although the dating world can be hectic, go into it with an open mind and a goal to have a good time and you will!

Do remember these do's and don'ts

Dating can be a struggle, but you can make the process a little less painful by remembering these simple tips.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
