College Girls, Stop Trying To Find 'The One' Right Now

He will come when you least expect it

As a college student, we are stuck in this grey area of what we should be doing with our lives.

We are old enough to make our own decisions, yet we still are young enough to where we aren't completely on our own. With that being said, many college girls think that they should have their lives figured out which includes having a significant other.

With the rise of social media, we see couples all the time flourishing together in college leaving girls thinking, "Why can't I have that?" and "What's wrong with me?"

The funny thing is, you will find someone, and it's not always going to be during college.

My mom loves to tell me the story of how my dad and her met- she was 20 and he was 23 and they met at a bar in south Alabama (funny thing is, she was with her girlfriends ignoring him for most of the night). When I was younger I would always tell myself, oh you will definitely find the one when you're 20.

I am laughing now at how wrong I was.

I consider my mom extremely lucky; not many women find their soulmate so young, and for them to still be together 30 years later is something remarkable, truly. But that is not my story. I can't live my life waiting around for a guy to come in and sweep me off my feet, and neither should you.

Us women have more opportunities for success than any other generation before and I would rather build my career and become independent than spending my time looking for the "one."

As humans, we crave love and affection. There is no denying how good it feels when you know someone wants you, but if you force yourself to find that when it should come naturally, you are going to end up empty and broken. Having patience is hard when you have people all around you falling in love, but the second you stop looking and focus on yourself will be when you find the most success in building relationships.

He will come. Whether it be tomorrow or in 3 years, you will find someone worthy of your affection and when you do, you will be glad you waited.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
