Finding The End Or The Beginning

Not every painful ending will leave scars;

some will only itch or burn for a while.

Each lover will rise or lower the bar;

allowing expectations to be dialed

with the same numbers on a telephone.

Not everyone wants to find forever

love with one person, with a giant stone.

A selection would rather just sever

any and all ties after one night of fun.

It can be better to end things quickly

instead of having a lamp be your sun.

Leaving yourself stuck, can make you prickly.

No one ever said that saying goodbye

wouldn’t make you think to want to retry.
