Before you freak out about your next exam, I present you with one question:
If he were drowning in note cards and review sheets on sixth floor of the library, what would Drake think?
Let him inspire us all to acknowledge the perks of finals week:
1. Excuse to caffeinate.
This far into the semester, your reliance on coffee is well-established. On days that your most demanding task will be sitting through an easy class, listening to a lecture or watching people's presentation, you tell yourself "I don't need Starbucks," only to jump in line when you walk past. Finals week is the justification you need to not feel guilty about buying a double espresso. Papers, tests, and projects all warrant being wired and #satisfied via whatever roast you fancy. Bonus: More coffee means more opportunities to scope out local cafes and off-campus destinations.
2. Hello, freebies.
"Not all superheroes wear capes." In fact, some are disguised as normal-looking, kind-hearted people that feel bad for you during exam week. They're here to fill your backpack with random, miscellaneous goodies that you just can't turn down: t-shirts, water bottles, sunglasses that you'll lose later in the week. Take advantage of others' sympathy, because it's a once-a-semester deal.
3. Conversation helper...and starter.
Not sure what to say to the person awkwardly walking an identical path across campus? To the person you haven't seen in months but suddenly run head-on into on the quad? To the classmate you've been searching for an excuse to talk to? Take a breath: finals week to the rescue. For a few days, you can put yourself at ease by having these questions on autopilot:
"How's your week looking?"
"When's your next exam?"
"When do you go home?"
Seize this opportunity to be smooth... Later, you'll have to study pick-up lines instead of definitions, which will be way more complicated.
4. Perspective.
With every present stressor comes future relief. You can see the light at the end of the tunnel...or through the library windows. Wherever you happen to look when you glance up from that same ridiculously wordy textbook page, freedom is in sight. Use exams as a test to keep your focus and composure. Most reassuringly, nobody will be grading what you do after your last one is over.
...Carpe finals week!
