Finals, As Told By "Game Of Thrones"

Finals are coming. Will you survive?

We've all been there. It's the last day of class, and your professor reminds you that the fifteen-page final research paper (that you should have been working on all semester) is due. It's the day of the final...

And you want to throw yourself down a flight of stairs because, of course, you haven't started it yet...

"and don't forget... the final exam is cumulative"

A certain death sentence.

When your profs try to convince you of the importance of your education and how they're just trying to prepare you for success in the working world

When all your friends are bragging about how they're totally not stressed because they don't have any sit-down exams and only, like, a three-page paper and a PowerPoint

Bitch, please.

When campus activities bring cute little animals on the study day for "stress relief" (aka to distract you from the fact that you're about to endure seven days of hell) and you just snuggle that cute little puppy like it's only good thing left in the world

You thought it would be a great idea to get together a study group for that math final you're hellbent on failing, but then the overachiever of the group exerts her intellectual superiority by completely taking over and acting like you don't know how to turn on a calculator

You have to take a break and eat sometime, so you head down to the dining hall, only to run into one of your classmates who proceeds to ramble on about how stressed out she is about her finals

Like, did I ask?

When you've isolated from humanity for so long (because you've been locked away in your room or the library) that when faced with human interaction and someone asks "how's the studying going", the only acceptable answer you can muster up is

You've been in the library for hours and you're so tired that you decide you've earned a little break, so you put your head down for five minutes... Two hours later you wake up and are struck by that temporary disorientation when you wake up somewhere unfamiliar...

And it only takes three seconds for you to remember that you're still in the place where dreams come to die: the silent third floor of the library.

When you finally finish that research paper, only to realize you did the citations in MLA format and your prof wanted it in Chicago...

It's 1am and you need a caffeine boost so you decide to brave the frozen tundra and trek across campus to Dunkin' Donuts, only to realize it's only open until midnight...

Making eye contact with that kid across the room who is crunching and munching as loud as can be, on the silent floor, while you're trying to make sense of Plato's "Apology"...

After you've been studying for so long you contemplate dropping out and wonder why college ever seemed like a good idea...

You're studying for that cumulative final and you're feeling pretty good about it, when you receive an email from your professor with a study guide attached. You immediately get excited, until you realize that the last four chapters of the unit (that were not covered in class) are included on the final and you're convinced he's actually trying to fail you all ...

After endless days and nights studying, it's the day of the final and you try to give yourself a pep talk...

And you try to put your game face on and maintain your composure as you walk to your death...

When your prof tryna be funny and convince you how easy the final is...

...

Three hours later, feeling confident that you destroyed that exam and passing it in like...

#ComeAtMeBro

and walking out the room like...

FREEDOM!

When you finally make it back to your room, you pour yourself a celebratory drink because you're a baller and you made it through another grueling round of finals (and you definitely aced them all)...

... with not a shred of dignity left to spare. Cheers!

When your parents come to pick you up, twenty pounds heavier and they just look at you like...

You've been so busy studying and cramming that you haven't eaten a decent meal in weeks and obviously haven't had time to go to the gym. It's called stress eating... deal with it.

And finally... when you see your own bed like...

and you can't wait to hibernate for the next five weeks.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
