Cancer is a deadly disease that continuously attacks several families and their loved ones everyday. There are no specific qualifications you have to have to get it. Cancer attacks the young, the old, infants, and even animals. It is a disease that requires billions of dollars for research in order to find a cure. A cure has not been found yet, but several different types of treatments and centers have developed to keep suffering patients comfortable and hopeful.
According to the American Cancer Society, more than 1 million people in the United States are diagnosed with cancer each year. Cancer’s mortality rate is higher than the survival rates because people are not educated, they don’t seek early detection, and they will not undergo proper screening. 7.6 million people die from cancer yearly and only 2.5 million survive. Although the chances of surviving this deadly disease are slim, there are several steps one can take to prevent or treat it.
There are two different major components of early detection. Early diagnosis means having the education to recognize certain signs of cancer and increasing the knowledge of what type of warning signs to look for with your respective doctor, nurse, and general healthcare provider. Being educated and asking health related questions are very important. You need to understand what cancer is, the several types of treatments offered, and why the successful treatment centers are significant when attempting to live a healthy lifestyle.
Screening is the process of undergoing yearly testing to record, keep track of, and identify individuals who have the disease, but haven’t faced any symptoms because of it. Screening is important because it is a series of tests that recognizes the cancer or malignant tumors before it becomes aggressive. This is a good way to keep track of your own health status and a good way for you to encourage others to do the same thing.
It is statistically proven that most people fear and put off going to the doctor’s office because they are scared of positive results from different types of testing. Knowing the status of your health is extremely important because it could save your life. What most do not understand about early detection is, it allots time for your doctor to determine the different types of methods and procedures to take in order to cure or treat the cancer.
There are numerous ways to treat cancer. Some of the treatments include: radiation, chemotherapy, surgery, laser treatment, and blood transfusions or donations. All of these treatments can be and are effective depending on the type of cancer a person has, but due to research the most dependable and the most successful and effective type of treatment is proton therapy.
Proton therapy is considered the most effective type of treatment because the machinery that is used only concentrates on the specific areas affected by the cancer. Each cancer patient has a radiation beam that is designed to fit the size and shape of their tumor to aggressively treat the cancer without the radiation affecting other tissues and organs.
Hampton University is the only college with the largest freestanding proton therapy institute in the world, with zero competition. HU’s proton therapy institute treats about 60 people daily. Their goal is to save lives and give patients and their families hope, while making them feel comfortable. Being diagnosed or being treated for cancer is all about how you approach it and the mindset you have. When attacking this very violent disease, it is important to start with a positive mindset and to begin researching to help educate yourself and those around you.
If you, a loved one, or a friend, is suffering with cancer or has been diagnosed with cancer, don’t give up. Although cancer can be deadly, there are so many methods and practices that can take place to steer you towards early detection and safety.
Cancer is a word with a negative connotation. While most do not think of surviving when the word “cancer” is mentioned, others automatically count themselves out because they don't believe that being diagnosed with the disease can happen to them. To eliminate the chances of the disease invading your life, be sure to use early detection methods.
