Summertime. Summertime means that women on both sides of recruitment are getting ready. On one side, girls are preparing to find their new home. On the other, they are looking for future sisters and, more specifically, future littles.

I met my big on the second day of recruitment. I made a gamble on the fourth day. Completely split between two houses, I bet on the one thing that stood out. I took a leap of faith and chose my future big. And that was that.

Looking to this next year, I know girls all across the country are getting ready and preparing to take on their second halves. Here are my fifteen promises to the 1 of my 2.

1. Give me a week, and you'll know the best places to eat around town.

2. You better believe I will be the first like on your social media posts.

3. I'll be there with tissues and soup when you're sick.

4. I'll be obsessed with you, Little, and everything you do.

If you get embarrassed by loud cheering, yelling, overwhelming support, maybe don't invite me to your events.

5. I promise to help you fall in love with greek life.

6. You'll get so tired of me.

No, seriously, little, you'll just want me to leave you alone in the end. I'm going to be so obsessed.

7. I'll try my best to give you good advice.

8. You'll never not have a date for gelato.

Please like gelato, please.

9. I'll guide you through the craziness of sorority life.

Trust me, it gets insane. I'll help you see how much it's worth it.

10. I promise college gets easier.

11. I promise to love you, to support you, and to help you grow.

12. I'll be your mom away from home.

13. I'll throw a fit when you go home for the weekend.

14. You're going to be so spoiled when Big Little finally comes.

I'm not that crafty, but I will definitely try---and I hope you like candy and treats!

15. Most importantly, I'll be your best friend.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
