For When You're Feeling Lost and Alone

You never truly are.

For When You're Feeling Lost and Alone

If loneliness is something that everyone feels at one point in their life, then why don’t we talk about it more? It seems like loneliness is a big secret and people seem to be embarrassed about feeling alone. So, what is it really like to feel alone in this great big world?

I think the worst kind of loneliness is when you’re in a room full of people, let’s say a room full of your friends, and you still feel completely alone. It’s a hard feeling to describe because you can’t explain it but you know that it’s there. I think we keep the loneliness to ourselves because we’re scared that if we admit the feeling, it will become real life and we don’t know if we can handle that.

Something that goes hand in hand with loneliness is feeling lost.

Everyone loses their way now and again. The thing about feeling lost is that sometimes we mistake it for feeling lonely, when in reality, we aren’t lonely at all. Feeling lost is a feeling that doesn’t go away until you find yourself again. I think when we feel lost, it’s a way of telling ourselves that we need change, whether we like it or not. The only way to find yourself again is to try some different things.

So, get away.

Leave toxic relationships. I find that we often stay in friendships because it’s all we’ve known and we’re afraid that once we get rid of these friendships, we’ll have no one. What we don’t realize is that once we get rid of the no good friendships, we make room for new and fulfilling friendships.

Just leave. Flat out leave the town or city you’ve known your whole life. Go explore new places, go on a road trip. Just get out. By exploring unknown places, you have the ability to explore your own purpose and you find out things about yourself that you never knew. You have the potential to find yourself.

Feeling lonely and lost in this world can be daunting, but I promise you, it will pass. For now, you just have to do some searching. You’ll find out your purpose and you’ll find your place in the world. After all, we all have one.

What I’m trying to say here is that feeling lonely or lost does not make you weak. Admitting these feelings makes you stronger because you have the courage to go out and find yourself all over again. Not many people are able to do that. Believe me when I say that everyone experiences these feelings of loneliness and self-doubt. What sets you apart from everyone else is what you do with these feelings. If you take anything away from this, I hope it’s that on matter how alone you feel or how lost you feel, you know are never alone. If you feel like no one understands or cares, I want you to know that no matter who you are or what you’re going through, I care.

Just remember, you are the only one who controls your life. You can do whatever you want with your life. It’s your life and no one else’s. You are loved, you are cared about and you are not alone. You will never be alone no matter how alone you feel.

Sending love to each and every one of you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
