So, it’s another day in the Texas heat. The high is in 80s. The sun is shinning. The flowers are still in bloom. I think to myself, should I even be complaining? I knew, with my college decision to come to TCU, that I would find myself living out many sweltering hot days, but nevertheless, I constantly find myself reminiscing about the cool and crisp Colorado autumn days.
I miss watching the trees change. I miss hot cocoa at football games. I miss REAL pumpkin spice lattes (Union Grounds can just never get it right!). As much as I pray and pray and PRAY for cooler days, I unfortunately know I cannot change Fort Worth’s weather. The trees are not about to change, and the flowers will still be in bloom for a while. Instead of sulking around about things I cannot change, I realized I could incorporate some of my fall traditions into Texas.
1. Hall’s Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze
Only about a 40 minute drive from TCU, Hall’s Pumpkin patch offers the perfect little fall getaway. The pumpkin patch is free--a huge plus to broke college students like me--and the corn maze is only five dollars. It's a great way to get away from campus and feel those fall vibes.
2. Haunted Houses
Nothing screams October more than a Haunted House! Cutting Edge, located near TCU on East Lancaster, and Hangman’s House of Horrors, about 20 minute drive from TCU at Blue Mound Road, both will sure send chills up your spine.
There's no reason to get homesick for fall with these super outings. Go grab your friends and try them out this weekend!
