10 Online Mental Health Resources That Help Me Every Day

Much of the literature on mental health enters the world (and stays) in the academic sphere - full of jargon, littered with statistics as well as methodologies, and rarely accessible without a university email or access to a scientific library.

As deeply troubling as I find that, I have been pleasantly surprised to see that over the past couple years, I have been able to find more articles and videos floating around on social media. While not all of the information is up-to-date or free of biases, I have put together below a collection of websites, blogs, videos, and a couple of my favorite articles as easily accessible resources around the subject of mental health!

1. Americanization of Mental Health Article

This article discusses the unique way mental health around the globe has been shaped by United States Americans' symptomatology, diagnoses, and cultural standards. Examining mental health differences around the world is particularly important as we continue the trend of globalization and I believe it is of utmost importance to approach mental health around the world outside the perspective of the "Americanization" of it.

3. I've Got Your Back Blog

Licensed psychologist Dr. Anita Sanz's blog has a variety of content discussing how she gets through sessions, food-addiction, how to deal with family during holidays, thought-provoking conversations that come up throughout sessions, and covers a majority of the subjects you would have interest in reading in regards to mental health. Short, easy, fun reads!

4. The Charity Mind

Mind is one of the United Kingdom's mental health charities that provides advice and support to empower those individuals struggling with their mental health. On their website, you can find a break down of common mental health disorders, as well as tips on how to approach a discussion about mental health disorders with someone you love and more.

5. Dr. Deb Blog

Practicing psychologist, Dr. Deb Serani, writes about topics ranging from stigma, self-injury, mental health awareness months, grief, suicide and many other topics that can be difficult to talk about. Her posts are informative and in conversational language so you don't feel weighed down by terminology.

7. Rethink Mental Illness News & Views

The website Rethink Mental Illness has a variety of resources, but I found the most interesting up-to-date discoveries in their News & Views section highlighted above. Personal stories are scattered alongside studies of workplace discrimination of mental disorders, meditation, mental health care while traveling, art therapy, and projects, as well as partnerships that Rethink Mental Illness is working towards.

8. Dr. Sarah's Blog

Practicing psychology, Dr. Sarah Ravin, specializes in youth care which can be an amazing resource for parents, family members or even employees who work with children because it helps them be intentional in their relationships with children as well as create a positive and safe environment. While her blog isn't updated regularly, she touches on subjects that range from mental health apps, to different types of therapy, to eating disorders.

9. MQ

MQ is a research charity that strives to fund the research that will have a life-changing impact on mental health - with a focus on youth. Their science and research section has articles that introduce the type of projects and research that are being undertaken as well as the innovative ideas and breakthroughs that are happening right in front of our eyes.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.
