1. Alamance Fountain (Fonville Fountain)
The Show Stopper: Located at the center of campus, Alamance fountain serves as the paragon of southern beauty. Home of the luminaries celebration, sorority formal pictures, and even Burlington prom photos, this fountain alone could be the reason you fell fast and hard for Elon University. If this is your favorite fountain, you probably enjoy being the center of attention (and hey— there’s nothing wrong with that). Sitting by the fountain’s ledge, you’re guaranteed to see at least 10 people you know. As a social butterfly, you seize every opportunity to greet these people to ensure that your presence does not go unnoticed. There’s a solid chance you’re a Snapchat fanatic and/or an Instagram celebrity, whose scenic Elon pictures are accompanied by sarcastic captions like, “lol my school is so ugly.” Some people claim that laughing at your own jokes makes you a narcissist, but they're just jealous. Following the wise words of Kevin G. from "Mean Girls," you "don’t let the haters stop you from doing your thang.”
2. The KOBC Fountain (Chandler Fountain)
The Hard Worker: The prestigious multiple-spout display makes you feel like you just stepped out of a Las Vegas resort. For an instant, you forget about your all-night coffee-induced spree of productivity. Maybe it’s the roar of the water, thundering so loud that it drowns out your thoughts— figuratively, that is. You work hard, but you still effuse that high-roller Las Vegas swagger. You’re not one of those tech nerds who's stuck in your parent's basement and only surfaces for sci-fi conventions. You prefer to get serious about your stock options now so you can be the hot shot in a three-piece suit throwing bills for thrills at the bar later tonight (that is, if Tony’s even counts as a real bar). The attention that comes with being a big spender? You don’t hate it. Maybe you like that you can catch a glimpse of your reflection in the shiny pennies sparkling at the bottom of the glorious ice blue water. Looking good— Leo ain’t got nothin’ on this future Wolf of Wall Street.
3. The Meditation Garden Fountain
The Free Spirit: The meditation garden is the home of the Elon hippies, a small but mighty minority on campus. If you believe in positive energy and good luck, this is the place for you. Free of judgement, you can find your inner peace and get "in the zone" in this relatively private, distraction-free vicinity. You'll almost forget about North Carolina's alarmingly high humidity levels.
4. The Moseley Center Fountain (Boney Fountain)
The Wall Flower: Boney fountain is characterized by simplicity. If you haven't noticed it before, you were probably distracted by the colossal Inman Admissions Welcome Center. It's nothing overly fancy or impressive, and maybe it doesn't quite fit with the rest of America's most beautiful campus. Still, we value its diversity. This fountain is perfect for those who are low maintenance, supa-chill, and easily amused. It's also an ideal location for people watching. Students may not see you, but you'll always see them. Creepy? Nah. Just observant.
5. The Water Fountain
The Thirsty One: Don’t hate, HYDRATE. Maybe you’re an athlete, who just finished a rigorous practice. Maybe you’re an a cappella singer, preparing for the next big concert. Maybe you’re an environmentalist, constantly refilling your reusable canteen. Maybe you went a little too hard on Thirsty Thursday, and you want to ameliorate your hangover. Maybe you’re just looking for an excuse to leave class. Regardless of what the reason is, you can always count on Elon to give you some free H2O when you need it the most.
