One of the best ways for businesses to give back to their supporters is to invest in their communities. In addition to fostering a sense of connectedness among people, donating to causes within the community also brings a host of tangible benefits back to the business itself.

According to Kyle Favel, the owner and founder of Favel Transportation, contributing to the bettering of their communities has been one of the key objectives of his business.

The Canadian entrepreneur sits on the Moosejaw Chamber of Commerce as a board member and has been an active participant in numerous community events.

He says, "For years we've been very quiet about our pay-it-forward attitude. I think it was modesty that prompted us to not disclose our support for the community, but we're starting to change that now."

Kyle Favel hopes that the example set by Favel Transportation will be emulated by other businesses in the industry as well as within the region.

"We aim to lead, and we aim to lead by example."

Favel Transportation recently made a significant donation to the Moose Jaw Regional Hospital.

"It is an honour to have Favel Transportation's name up on the donation wall of Moose Jaw Regional Hospital. I look forward to our continued partnership in the future," says Kyle Favel.

He adds, "Ensuring that our community is well supported with the best, state of the art medical facilities was a privilege."

Favel transportation regularly supports the Canadian Cancer Society, the only national charity that supports all Canadians living with all types of cancer across the country. Not only do they fund research into all types of cancers, but also offer support services to help people better manage life with cancer.

The founder of Favel Transportation says, "cancer has probably affected everyone, and we are happy to contribute our share in the fight against it every year."

They are also active supporters of various sports teams and clubs. Favel Transportation is a patron of the Moose Jaw Warriors, a local hockey team.

"We support the warriors with season tickets as well as their education fund to help their future pursuits," says Kyle Favel.

Additionally, Favel Transportation has consistently supported the Royal Canadian Legion with their poppy campaign for Remembrance Day.

"We make sure to purchase a wreath every year," says Favel.

He is of the opinion that cultivating a culture of service in his business is important and has encouraged employee driven initiatives.

Throughout the year, Favel Transportation employees make donations to a jar and the business matches these at the end of the year and donates the proceeds to a neonatal intensive care unit in Regina, Saskatchewan.

"Our employees are involved in canvassing for non-perishable food items that they donate to our local food banks," says Favel.

The prairie trucking expert has also had his team participate in Movember, to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's suicide.

He says, "It's a great, fun way to raise funds for those in need."

Favel Transportation has also started a non-profit called the Saskatchewan Big Rig and have been able to make donations to various anonymous charities with the proceeds.

"I really enjoy being part of my community," says Favel.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
