Family Is All You Ever Need

Through thick and thin, they're always there for you.

Family Is All You Ever Need

Family takes up a huge chunk of my life. It's probably because I have over 20 cousins just on my mom's side. There are also tons of cousins on my dad's side and I probably don't even know at least half of them. Anyways, the point is I have a bunch of family! And even though I'm a moody teenager and don't often show my affection, I'm extremely grateful for all of them.

I often visit and/or hang out with cousins from my mom's side the most because they're all somewhat easy to contact or visit. Every single time any of us get together, it's like a herd of bulls meeting up again after years. We are loud. I swear whenever we're expecting family to come by our apartment, I always know when they arrive just by the mere screams of "hello" that fill the hallways and rooms.

Not only is my family loud, but we're also extremely crazy. If you know me personally, you know I can get hyper. Now imagine that multiplied by 15 different people. Yea, I know. And if you don't know me too well, just take me literally when I say you'd think we all belong in mental hospitals because we are actually lunatics.

My family and I love to laugh as much as we like to eat. And trust me, we love to eat. Young or old, everyone in my family knows how to make everyone else laugh. Whether it's the little jokes or just remembering old times we've spent with each other. You'll most likely be getting a full out ab workout because your sides will be hurting nonstop. At least I know mine hurt every time I'm with my sisters just when we play games with each other.

Games are a big thing in my family. We love to play games. Some times it'll be Super Mario or Just Dance, but we're also very big fans of party and board games. I think it's mostly because we are highly competitive, I mean who doesn't love to win? People say it doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's about having fun. No, not in my family. If you aren't winning, then it's not fun at all. That being said, we tend to avoid games of Monopoly or else we won't talk to each other for weeks because we're still mad about that one time so and so traded Mayfair for all the train stations. But in the end we kinda had a good time?

Anyways, I love my family. I wouldn't be the same person if I had just one cousin or one sister in my life. Yeah we fight occasionally, but the best part about family is unconditional love (and maybe the tons of presents you get around Christmas time). Whether it's by blood or not, they can be your family so long as you have a blast and love them with all of your heart! Family really is all you ever need in life.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
