The world sees people as somebodies or nobodies. Rank-ism is a real thing. We judge people more by their rank than any other section-ism. You have to climb the ladder to be a somebody. Be somebody so you can't be judged by your rank. We are wired to think nobodies are equivalent to banishment. That by not being important, you will be excluded from the society. That being a nobody will deprive you of social and material resources critical to your health and happiness. Fame protects us from being put down from feeling down on our situation. The higher up you are, the less people can put you down. You know if you're a somebody; what other people say doesn't matter.
Being in the eyes of so many people could be a good thing or bad thing. People could either know you for what good you have done, or what bad you have done. So, before you even meet people, they would have this idea of who you are. They think they know who you are before they even talk to you. I feel like everyone has predispositions to famous people. I don't know if I would want that for myself.
Only 1% of people become famous. What about the other 99% of us?
I have excepted I am a part of the other 99%. I will never be anyone. But, what if I'm a nobody, and I am okay with being a nobody? The possibility of you becoming famous is like winning the lottery. You have to put everything you have into being somebody. Also, everyone else accepts what you are doing. You are not going to go anywhere. You're never going to be someone, really.
Even the really famous people now will be forgotten, just like their predecessors. The majority of the population, within a hundred years, won't remember the famous people now. So, why try to be anybody? Stop trying to be a somebody, because it's all just an illusion. You can't become famous if no one knows who you are. We perpetuate this rank system. They're only a somebody because we all made them a somebody. They couldn't become one by themselves. They needed people to like them and to notice them, and spread the news for them to become famous. Famous people are regular people we made famous.
We need to become okay with being okay. With being the 99%. We're all chasing some stardom. We're all looking for some recognition, some validation we actually mean something. You only have to affect one person a day. And, it's okay for that person to be you.
Why don't we consider waking up and getting ready something amazing, or doing everyday things amazing? Even if you don't do anything crazy amazing that day, you still got up and got ready; you went to work. You made someone smile. You don't have to be absolutely amazing all the time; you can be average most of the time. You don't have to be anything amazing. You can be okay with being average for the rest of your life. The sooner you lower your expectations the less you will be disappointed with your life.
Be a somebody to yourself.
1. Make someone smile
2. Help someone
3. Do something that makes you smile
4. Laugh
