Eeeekk! It's about that time of the year where the leaves are turning then subtly fall to the ground, the windows begin to fog up because of the bitter cold outside and the warmth inside the car rumbling on the roads and honestly; it's the time of year where everyone is stirring to find contentment in something or someone.
Most people are searching for the one to snuggle up to during the colder weather and watch movies with. To have the cutest sweaters and boots that fit the perfect Pinterest outfit. Constantly wanting to have the best instagram posts filled with pictures that prove you're having the most wonderful time ever when in reality you and your friends are quite possibly sitting at the skating rink on your phones after wearing the skates for a cute boomerang.
I, for one, have always been one of those people as well. I simply can't deny that. Social media and society is pretty great at making us seem not good enough.
But guess what -- you won't always have the best picture, you won't always have the cutest clothes and you may not always have a significant other. There will always be another person that has something you want to strive to be like.
Lately I feel like God has been screaming in my heart to just stop.
Have you ever heard the saying, "comparison is the killer of joy?"
In this period that you're in, no matter who you are or what stage of life you are in; your leaves are changing.
You aren't who you use to be, and you aren't yet who you're suppose to be so stop trying to be someone you're not.
Stop trying to keep up with a world that doesn't care.
Stop wanting someone that isn't yours.
Stop comparing yourself to someone else.
SPOILER ALERT: His plan for your life is far greater than the one you come up with! So start living in contentment that what is suppose to happen in your life WILL happen. Stop killing your joy with constantly comparing yourself to something or someone you aren't.
I don't know about you, but I feel like God is always pulling on our hearts to be confident in Him; that He will take care of us and He will bring us more joy than we could even fathom.
Simply find contentment this fall and winter in Him; and let Him lead your heart to the warmth of His love.
