Relationships can be a roller coaster full of many ups, downs, upside downs, and twists. But you get to a point when your relationship is your drug —and not a good one. We accept the love we think we deserve, but some people are naive to what that is. Typically with girls, we tend to settle for love. But is that what love is? Love should be easy with some small curve balls along the way. But once those fast curveballs come your way, it's time to check the reality of your relationship and whether or not it's healthy.
In my college experience, which is limited, I have already seen so many girls settling for less and being hurt more than loved. The maturity of guys is tested daily by the way they treat girls, especially in this generation. Our generation is lacking the definition of true love and we substitute true love with infatuation and adoring the chase. More than likely, we end up chasing the guys who don't give us the love we deserve and end up falling in love with the chase of love.
We see guys like Nathan Scott, Troy Bolton, McDreamy, and Chuck Bass who successfully treat girls the right way. But why do fictional characters treat girls so well, but reality fails to do so? Most men wonder why we adore those characters so much, yet don't fully understand the chase we adore to be treated in that way? Fictional television set our standards so high, but we should settle for nothing less because there is love out there like that. We find ourselves blind to those guys out there who make you feel loved and fulfilled. Behind those players and fools, there are guys waiting to find the exact same thing you're wanting. Believe it or not, guys have standards, too, but are scared to share it. Love goes two ways, and those ways should be equal.
It is quite simple, guys, to simply treat a girl well. It isn't necessary to flourish them with flowers, but treat them with respect and take notes on what we crave. Some girls are so used to guys being jerks that they become immune to it and allow it. But girls, don't take that. You deserve nothing less than being treated like a princess. You may think the flaws and downs are normal, but in a serious, healthy relationship, you should never feel less than nothing to him.
Relationships are supposed to make you feel full, not empty. Both people in the relationship should put in the same amount of effort and accept nothing less than their standards. Your standards are set for a reason. You crave to be treated the way you want to be treated. Everything happens for a reason and your standards are set for a reason. Fairytales are out there if you are patient and stubborn when it comes to what you deserve.
Take a stand for yourself and don't let yourself settle below your needs. You should never feel alone in a relationship. And while you're searching for that fantasy, find the time to love yourself. It is impossible to love another person if you cannot love yourself.
We accept the love we think we deserve, and you deserve your ideal one.
