Fall,
Oh how I love thee.
With your red leaves and blue skies. With your cold crisp wind that blows through the air and rustles those red leaves, making a wonderful crunch. The breeze is crisp as an apple that is picked while wearing plaid and jeans and scarves and boots. The comforting sweaters and colder and colder weather.
Oh, Fall, how I love thee.
With your candy corn and spooky holidays. Your sweet tooth, cavity inducing, sugar-coma-giving holidays. Your traditions and your days that are spent with family and friends. Your turkeys and mashed potatoes and stuffing and gravy. Your stories of pilgrims and Indians and getting along for feasts.
Oh, Fall, how I love thee.
With your returning TV shows that I have missed all summer. With your Halloween movie marathons. With your football games and hot chocolate.
Oh, Fall, how I love thee.
With your pumpkins and your corn maizes. Your pumpkin patches and photo shoots. Your farms that provide vegetables and apple cider and laughter. Your pumpkin spice lattes in Starbucks all over the country. All of the "basic white girls" that thrive during your days.
Oh, Fall, how I love thee.
With your decorations in store windows and outside of homes. With the attire that comes with you that I could not live without. Your giving of joy in little kids across the US on Oct. 31. The look on their faces when they see how much candy they got. Your giving of hope on Nov. 24 in hearts young and old.
Oh, Fall, how I love thee.
With your leading up to winter the coldest season of the year. Many people claim that winter is their favorite. But, I beg to differ. They must not appreciate you the way I do. Have they ever sipped a hot cup of coffee on a crisp fall morning? Have they ever heard the crunch of red leaves as they walked down the street? Have they ever picked red apples in an apple orchard mid fall?
Oh, Fall, how I love thee.
