I’ve had enough of summer. We are back at school now, and there is no AC in any of the dorms. With that said, I am so ready for fall. My roommates and I have all agreed we are done with summer and can’t wait for autumn, as the constant running of fans is already getting old.
I’m ready for cardigans, pumpkin flavored everything, pumpkin picking, riding boots, apple picking, sweaters, football games, foliage, hot chocolate, and hay rides.
Ready to wear pants, longsleeves, even jackets. I have had enough of the heat, constantly putting sunscreen on my entire body, and being sweaty too soon after taking a shower.
Ready for the fresh smell of fall as you walk outside, playing in the leaves and crunching them with your riding boot and tall sock laden foot; (just not really ready for raking them). I’m tired of the humidity and my hair frizzing up.
I’m ready for the new seasons of all the TV shows, to walk outside and not have to sweat but also not have to freeze, and for sipping tea while reading a book in a cozy spot.
Ready to wear scarves, infinity or not, and to wear leggings with a sweatshirt and messy bun. Ready for corn mazes and pumpkin carving and the excitement that being back at school brings.
I’m ready for Halloween, for Thanksgiving, for candles and haunted houses. I’m ready for vests, for the Patriots, and the sparkling cold dew on the grass in the mornings.
Ready for craft fairs, acorns, and scarecrows. For pies and apple cider, and going on a hike to the top of a mountain to look down on the foliage below.
I’m ready for soup, for scenic drives, and for cozy fires. For napping in perfect temperatures, turning the clocks back, and trying to catch the leaves as they fall off the trees.
Ready for toasted pumpkin seeds, Charlie Brown, candy corn, and giving thanks to my family and friends.
I’m so sick of all of this heat. I’m in need of some cooler weather.
I’m ready for fall, and I bet you are too.
