13 Reasons Fall Is The Best, Whether Or Not You're A Basic White Girl

Of all the seasons, fall has to be my favorite. From the time I was young, I looked forward to the beginning of September because it meant that it was time for fall things and activities! 'Basic White Girl' or not, I think everyone can agree that fall has to be the best season of all. While I could sit here and list off all of the many reasons why I have fallen in love with fall (get it?), here are just a few reasons why fall is hands down the best season of all!

1. Leaves changing colors

Giphy

There is nothing prettier than driving past a bunch of trees that have an assortment of colors. Red, orange, yellow, they all make being outside just a little more colorful!

2. Sweater weather

Giphy

I absolutely love getting to break out my thick sweaters and cozy clothes. Being able to be outside with a bunch of layers without being too cold is just the best.

3. The return of warm drinks

Giphy

Between hot chocolate, teas, and even the Pumpkin Spice Lattes, I am always grateful when I can order hot drinks and not feel like I'm boiling from the inside.

4. The flavors

Giphy

Pumpkin is one of my favorite flavors ever. Luckily, during fall, it can be found in so many things. Along with cinnamon and apple, I just love having an excuse to make fall flavored things!

5. Apple picking. And apple cider. And apple donuts. Pretty much anything apple.

Giphy

It's tradition in my family to go to a farm and get the fresh apples from the orchard, the fresh apple cider, and most importantly the apple donuts. I wait all year for them, so I'm always ready for September to roll around.

6. School

Giphy

Ok, you might not agree with this point, but I'm a teacher, so I get excited about going back to school. There is something about getting back into a routine and getting yourself organized that it so satisfying. Plus, you get to see people you haven't seen all summer!

7. THE BUGS HAVE RETURNED TO HELL

Giphy

I don't think this needs an explanation. I don't like bugs, so I like when they are gone.

8. Football season

Giphy

Nothing beats watching a Pats game.

9. Fairs

Giphy

I love fall fairs because they are so full of food and fun and fresh air. I get excited for when they come around every year!

10. Fall campfires > summer campfires

Giphy

I enjoy campfires more when I'm not melting from the heat of the fire, but instead it keeps me nice and toasty.

11. An extra hour of sleep

Giphy

Thanks to Daylight Savings, we get another blessed hour of sleep in the fall. Go ahead and try to tell me you don't need it.

12. The return of good television

Giphy

The summer TV drought ends in mid-September and I cannot be more grateful. I mean, I just miss crying my eyes out because of "This Is Us" every week!

13. It ushers in the holiday season!

Giphy

I LOVE the holidays, so when fall hits, I know it's almost time. After all, it's the most wonderful time of the year!

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

Find excitement in your life and start exploring wherever you are right here, right now.

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…
