C.S. Lewis once said, "If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world."
The rapid growing culture we live in today is continuously on the rise. From the development of the Internet less than 100 years ago to the production of hand-held cell phones to the modernization of self-driven automobiles, our culture is in a constant progression. Our experiences, involvement, and perceptions are greatly influenced by these progressions whether we realize it or not. There are times in our own personal lives we sometimes become so consumed or ingrained in the culture that we tend to forget one of the true values of our life. Our faith.
Our faith in today's society is a matter that needs to be defended. We as Christians need to stand up and contend for our faith rather than live in Contentment of our faith. The current state of the culture takes numerous attempts to execute the concept of faith. It seems that the conversation of FAITH tends to produce a spirit of fear and vulnerability among people. The culture loves to endorse the idea of self-satisfaction while drowning out the idea of faith. The continuously flowing culture tends to create an illusion of temporary satisfaction that eventually leads to a displacement from God. This illusion continues to expand as the culture current continues flowing, evolving, and shaping the banks of faith. DON'T COMPROMISE YOUR FAITH.
The only perception this current culture offers is an illusion of momentary fulfillment, whether it's money, alcohol, technology, drugs, sexual immorality, food, etc. I’m not implying that everything the culture provides isn’t functional in building your relationship with God. A few positive assets that the culture does offer is a time of reflection, relationship, and realization that we all are in desperate need of a Savior. There is nothing of this world that will provide fulfillment and satisfaction until you allow your heart to come in contact and be transformed by God himself. That’s how you were designed, created. God didn’t design you to live for temporary fillings but for fulfillment in Him and Him only. You see, we are only ordinary people until we come in contact with an extraordinary God.
An individual’s heart is a deep abyss of emotions, feelings, and desires. One of the largest seeds God has planted in your heart is the seed of desire. The desire for something authentic, genuine, and completing. You may not realize it at the present time but I ask you, Have you ever truly examined the desires of your heart? That seed of desire planted deep inside of your heart could possibly be in a desperate lack of water, sunlight, and nutrition: Or possibly better referred to as a lack of love, grace, and fulfillment. What God desires for you is that you would fill that voided spot with Him and His Spirit. But as the gracious and giving God he is, he provides us with the Gift of Choice.
A choice of whether or not we accept Him. I realize, from experience, that we all have a human nature that would like to attempt to fill that voided spot with the selfish, fleshly desires of this world. We would rather fill that void with our own personal interest rather than the interests God has for us. Let me summarize it into a parable for you. Think about your life as a puzzle. A puzzle has many pieces that are specifically designed to fit into a certain order. Yet at times we become frustrated with the time and patience it takes to finish it so, we attempt to force pieces into places where certain pieces aren’t designed to fit. This is how our human nature sometimes works. We attempt to fit certain pieces of the culture into our lives yet they continue to only bring a lack of fulfillment. I can promise you that if you allow God the opportunity to work in your life and you concentrate yourself in Him, you will begin to experience amazing things. You will begin to see the puzzle of your life slowly and gradually come together into a beautiful picture. Allow your faith to be the propeller that guides you through the deep currents of the culture and eventually it will bring you into a brighter day. Have a wonderful week and God Bless. "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." -2 Chronicles 7:14
