Exposed: How Cal U Really Handles Sexual Harassment
Women In Astronomy Blog

One int hree women will be sexual harassed or assault during their college career, this is disgusting to say the less and what are colleges like California Univeristy of Pennysivina doing to help and protect their female and male students from this well NOTHING. Cal U makes you go through sexual harassment and assault training every year. Cal U has a counseling and women's center and a social equity office and also a police force that is supposed to be able to handle sexual harassment and assault cases. For a school that stresses that they can handle this cases they sure suck at it. Here is a story on how Cal U really handle these type of cases.

A female student was a the gym on-campus a male student was saying how he like to be her man, the girl tried to ignore him, later when she was leaving to go downstairs the guy reappeared taking photos of her backside, the female student turned around and asked him what he is doing.

"Are you taking pictures of me?" she asked. The guy said no.

Later, the female students went down stair to the front desk and reported him. "We can't do anything," they said. A little while later, a police officer showed up to take the female student statement. "You should get used to guys doing this. You have a type of body that is attractive to the opposite sex," he said. "I've seen you jogging around campus." He then gave her a card to the counseling center where she used to work.

Wow Cal U, just wow. Cal U really cares about its students.

Something similar happens to me at the gym and Cal U did nothing, The police officer pretty much said you have a good body so a guy is going to stare and take pictures of it should be a complainant and then he had the nerve to give her a card to help. Here's a crazy idea how about instead the police officer does his job and punish the guy for taking the pictures because the guy needs the help. Two days later the girl saw the same guy in the gym and when she went to the police for an update they told her it's in "progress." Progress my ass.

Cal has a high transfer rate, which is when students transfer to another school, well maybe this is why. Cal U covers it up they could care less about female or male students getting sexually harassed at the gym or in class.

There is a law called Title XI that all state-funded educational initiations have to follow, but from the looks of current events, Cal U is not following this law. Here is the law according to ed.gov 'Title IX

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights (OCR) enforces, among other statutes, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Title IX protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive Federal financial assistance. Title IX states that: No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."

When it comes to sexually assault and harassment Cal U needs a wake-up call, how many more girl or guys have to go through this before something is done? Is going to take Cal U to have another Brock Turner? I surely hope not.

From the sounds and looks of it looks like Cal is trying to ignore the fact that sexual assault and harassment happens on campus, there to busy cutting the arts program and people positions.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
