Ever Want To Go Back?

There is a fresh start that is closer and more powerful than you think.

Out of all the things I have learned about people in my short time on this earth, one of the most evident is people are typically consumed with the past. We tend to be creatures who don’t want to give it up: Never letting go. It makes sense; I mean, possibilities decrease and regrets mount as time goes on. Most everyone has a point in their life that they would go back to--most likely to change things, go another path, to know then what they know now, prepare themselves, or maybe just enjoy that specific time. So what if you’re in this boat? What if I’m talking directly to you? Maybe you want to go back before you met that wrong person. Maybe you want to go back before you gave up on that dream. Maybe you want to go back before you made that decision. Maybe you want to go back before you started on drugs.

Maybe you want to go back before you began relying on alcohol. Maybe you want to go back before you were confused about who you are or about what your purpose is. Maybe you want to go back before you were abused. Maybe you want to go back before you blew all your money. Maybe you want to go back before your father let you down. Maybe you want to go back before you took that job. The truth is we all have a past. For some, it’s very dark. For most, it’s full of different kinds of pain and disappointments among other things. And maybe you’ve thought about wanting the cycle to break. Maybe you’ve thought about doing something to hit a reset button- a fresh start at last. You can’t tell me that you don’t believe in healing, freedom, wholeness, peace, joy, purpose, identity, security, and all the things that would simply make you excited to wake up every morning- all the things that would exceed, dissipate, and completely overtake anything that happened in the former. Do you even realize you’re only one step away from that fresh start? With all that life has brought, there is more. That step to take is to begin trusting in something beyond yourself and beyond life itself. The same God that spoke the universe into life is the same God who will speak your heart and your soul back to life. The issues we experience are not just physical or emotional, they are spiritual. But the amazing news you need to hear right now is that these issues were all dealt with at the cross 2,000 years ago when God himself came down to earth through Jesus on a suicide mission just for you--for your wrongdoings, bad decisions, selfishness, shame, guilt, pain, etc. Then Jesus rose from the dead just for you too- because He wants you to have the same new life that flowed through him! Life that brings all of those previously mentioned words I know you desperately long for. The past is the past- you can never change it now no matter how hard you try. But now is now. The time is today for you to begin a new path. The shift is in alignment and the best is yet to come in your life. Lay down the old chains and pick up your new name.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

“I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I have power over the world.” –Jesus (John 16:33)

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
