Eight Reasons I'll Miss Being At Home

I love being in college and I love my school. But sometimes it is hard having to pack up all my stuff to move out yet again. Although I am excited to get back to all my friends, being on my own, and college life, I'm sad to leave everything behind. So here are the things that we miss most while being at school and away from home.

1. Family.

Aw how cute. Yes, we all miss our mom's and dad's even when they tell us what to do and get under our skin. But we love and miss them anyway. Not to mention the fact that they do the dishes, laundry, and feed you cause they love you so much. Even though you can chat everyday on the phone, it is still different when you get to spend quality time with them.

2. Food.

When you are home, there is always a stocked fridge and usually three meals a day. Rather than ramen and granola bars, you are getting real food and real home cooked meals. Nothing beats that.

3. Pets.

You get to spend all summer loving on your cats and dogs and then you leave again. You will miss their constant love and affection and the fact that they want to snuggle with you when no one else does. You can't talk on the phone with them and tell them that you love and miss them and that is hardest. Missing your pets is the worst.

4. Being Tan.

With classes, rush, and getting organized, that means less time to lay out and tan. Say bye-bye to being bronze and sun-kissed.

5. Friends.

Let us not forget our friends who are attending other schools. Yes, you text all the time and are already planning a trip to see them when you duel it out on the football field, but you will still miss the quality time spent with them.

6. The Water.

Whether it is the beach, a creek, the river, a spring, or what have you, you spent a large amount of time in the water over the summer. Now the only water you will be dealing with is the water that comes from your shower head.

7. Working

I'm sorry, I probably lost you there. But the money you were earning was great, right? It was nice making a little cash, but now it is back to being busy with school, clubs, and other fun things. Just don't spend it all in one place or you will seriously regret it.

Whatever your reason, it is okay to miss home. Just find those things in your new home and make it work. Just don't buy too many cats, spend all your money in one place, or forget how to use a vacuum or your apartment will be disgusting. Enjoy living your college life, but just remember to always appreciate what you have at home.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
