With every college student's worst week of the school year closing in, it's important to know ways to deal with the added pressure that final week delivers. So here are several ways for you to take a breather, and get through the week with less stress.
1. Ask for help.
It's easy to become overwhelmed, but studying with a group can be extremely beneficial as it helps not just you, but a friend too.
2. Inspire yourself.
When studying, it could be helpful to remind yourself all that could come out of all of the work that you're putting in.
3. Cry.
It's okay to just let go sometimes, we all know how tough some of those finals can be. It's best to cry before the final rather than during it.
4. Take care of yourself.
It's important to remember to take good care of yourself. Exercise, eating right and sleeping on a regular schedule are good ways to stay healthy during these trying times of last minute cramming.
5. Do the best you can do with what you have.
Not everything that was gone over in class is going to be in the finals. So it's okay to take a moment for yourself. Just remember that it's not the end of the world if you're missing a few notes here and there.
6. Talk yourself through it.
It's temporary, finals week doesn't last forever. As soon as you take whatever final it is that you're worried about, relax. It's all over.
7. Pace yourself.
If you're going too fast, go a little slower. There's no need to get a headache because you tried taking in too much information at once. If you're going too slow, go a little faster. Procrastination only adds more stress.
8. Get organized.
You'll feel more control if you make a list for yourself or have a clean space to work in.
9. Listen to music.
If you hear your favorite song, you're going to be less likely to get stressed out. Make a playlist to study to and leave it playing.
10. Praise yourself.
Did you just get done studying a hard chapter and finally understand it? Treat yourself to something nice, like ice cream or candy. It's okay to take breaks.
You just need to remember that finals week is only one week long. It's alright to take breaks, just remember that your health is just as important as where you're going to be tomorrow. Afterall, there won't be a tomorrow if you don't take care of yourself today.
