Yep, Drake is surely a legend. He is a hit maker and is only continuing to get more hits and get even better. Additionally, he has talent and pursued his dream. He was even on the teen show drama "Degrassi" for a little while until his rap career kicked off. Drake reps Canada a lot, which is where he is from; he loves it there. Moreover, he is the so called man of Toronto. Many of his songs have a catchy ring to it and so do his lyrics. By no means is Drake a lyricist, he is not able to rhyme every line methodically. That is the one aspect that he does not have, but it does not mean he is not a great artist. The other reasons that complement him as a great rapper is that he is both emotional and relatable. He is a regular guy just like anyone of us. Drake does not portray himself in his music as a tough guy who faces his problems with violence and with no help. What makes him special is his ability to both be able to sing well and rap. He has a great singing voice that is both powerful and unique. Drake has created many different projects that make him a legend indeed.

Drake's Grand symbol of greatness is the owl that represents OVO. OVO stands for "Octobers Very Own" and it represents himself because he was born in the month of October. There is a significance with the owl representing himself. The letters OVO can be seen in the owl's face because the two o's are the eyes and the letter v is the beak of the animal. In my opinion, the owl represents fierceness and it is a silent killer. It has its own call that is used for various reasons. An owl swoops down from trees and can fly down quick, snatching up its prey. Drake it seems is trying to say that you should not sleep on him by any means, just like the owl. If you fall asleep on the owl, it can swoop down and grab you at any time. An owl is active during night time than during the day time. Along with the owl, he has his own successful clothing line. The hats, sweatshirts, bands, and t-shirts all have a nice design and bring about a unique style. Whatever you want to say about this man, you cannot question his own successful line of clothing and the emotion he puts into his songs.

Some songs that highlight his singing and catchy lyrics are songs "Hotline Bling" and "Too Good." "Hotline Bling" is a great song that shows the lure of getting a girl and answering her phone. The Hook "You used to call me on the cell phone late night when you need my love," is both melodic and catchy. It is safe to say that it is a hit song of the year accumulating 882 million views on Youtube. Drake sings with a great voice and the lyrics in the song are very relatable and emotional. He sings his heart about a girl gone wrong, an old girl who he used to love and respect. The beat of the song fits with the overall lyrics and the tone. When this song first came out I could not stop singing the catchy lyrics for about a couple of weeks. My friends can abide to this as they pleaded with me to stop singing it already.

Drakes earlier album "So Far Gone," was a good album with nice guest appearances. One of them being Lil Wayne, another great rapper. This tape made Drake famous and helped launch his rap career. "Best I've Ever Had" was a nice song where Drake sings and has some nice lyrics. Especially, the whole album was about a kid in pursuit of love and money. Of course the whole tape had it's flaws being as it was one of his first projects. The album sends the message of what fame brings, the price of it all.

His next album "Thank Me Later," was another album that put him on the map. Drake talks a lot about himself on this tape. For the most part, Drake raps about although being famous and having an abundance of money that he would not mind being that other guy. The album portrays searching for love and enjoying what he has, preserving various memories. It's the emotion that Drake puts into the album that makes it so excellent. It's the unrelenting reality that with more money comes more problems and heartbreaks. He points out his difficulty in staying with women and finding love and that he is a complicated person. Nobody is perfect by any means. Life is surely complicated. People can relate to what Drake is talking about very easily. For example the song "Karaoke," he sings about a girl who can not handle his new being. Chiefly, the album hits on Drake's loneliness and his many struggles. This album was a masterpiece that resonated with many fans and brought Drake more stardom, more power, and more success.

Drake's next album "Take Care" brought about a different approach, using his talent and moodiness to create a great collection of songs. The album like others Drake has made pointed out pain, regret, anger, and vengeance. Drake's emotions of lost love, like on other albums are portrayed in this album. One of my favorite songs on this album "Marvin's Room" is a hit and a very relatable song right down to the exact lyrics, "I know you still think about the times we had". In lyrics before that sentences he curses out her other lover. On song "Make Me Proud" he calls out relationships and fake love. On this tape, Drake has changed and talks more about the power of money and spending money on yourself. He mentions how great it feels to spend millions of dollars on you only. On "Take Care" Drake hones his abilities and had made drastic improvements in both his singing and rapping. On the song "Doing it Wrong" Drake points out the fake love and our generation's ideas of love.

Drakes album "Nothing was the Same" was a good album that highlights him as one of the greatest rappers ever. The first song "Tuscan Leather" is an interesting song with a nice beat. On the song "Too Much" he takes shots at his own family. On the song "Paris Morton Music" he talks about going to his high school reunion, something everybody can relate too, the nervousness of going and not wanting to go. The song "Pound Cake" is one of my most favorite songs on the album, with it's nice beat and lyrics. A highlight song "Started From the Bottom" brings a whole bunch of heat and the notion of Drake starting from the low depths and now being a high rapper in society, from being a nobody to a somebody. We all can relate to this, starting from the bottom, I mean you gotta start from somewhere. "From Time" is a song of a relationship problem and trying to save it. Whereas, another great song was "Hold on, We're Going Home," which was a great pop song with a nice beat and melody.

His best album in my opinion was "If You're Reading This It's Too Late." This album dropped by utter surprise as I saw it drop years ago out of nowhere. I thought that this album had Drake's best lines and lyrics. Drake's voice is aggressive and confident. In this album Drake brought the fire and anger out. In one lyric he talks about putting other rappers heads on the wall as if he is a hunter. Another he raps about his acting days being over. The song "10 Bands" is catchy and a flat out banger as well as the song "Know Yourself." "Know Yourself" points out that he acknowledges who he is as an individual and that not everything in life can be joyful. Another song "Energy" is a great song that highlights his rise to fame and where he disses his enemies. On the song he says haters can not drain him of his great energy. The song "No Tellin" highlights Drake's bars that are both sharp and fast. The song has a unique approach as a radio like voice starts chanting halfway into the song. "6 God" is a song that points out his stardom and where he raps about how big he is, a true god. The song "6 Man" is similar to the song "6 God" where he raps about fame and roasting his enemies. "6PM In New York" is a great song that closes out the album on a good note. He questions his decisions in his life that he has made and what his future holds. Drake raps that he will be number one, number two is not good enough. The album points out that success brings about problems and so does money. Above all, the album has great production with dark beats and great lyrics.

Drake's debut album "What a Time to Be Alive" with Future had some groundbreaking hits. One of my favorite songs on the album "Digital Dash" has a dope beat and some killer lyrics. Many of the beats are grimy and very melodic. On many of the songs both Future and Drake spark flames, having good chemistry. The song "Big Rings" has a nice hook and has nice lyrics saying he has a big team, that is one of the best around. "Plastic Bag" is a nice singing anthem for strip clubs that is melodic and catchy like the other song "Diamonds Dancing." The album certainly showcased nice beats and some nice lyrics. Comparatively, the highlight song "Jumpman" is a banger that sticks out on the album. Future goes in on his own song "Jersey." The album stands out to greatly represent what a time to be alive in our generation.

Drake's latest album "Views" was a good album that had OK beats and an overall style of music. Although it is not his best album of all time. The album is an ode to his hometown of Toronto. It ranged from basic rap songs, to singing, to some reggae music that flowed well. The album showed Drake experimenting with different things that worked out well. "Controlla" is a hit song that brings out a nice Caribbean beat. It shows his deep love of a certain girl, that he would even lie and die for. "One Dance" is another hit song, I don't like it but that's my opinion. Although the album had its weak moments of his lyrics not being powerful or saying anything that important. Barely anything that is said is of importance. The song "Child's Play" for example is a comical song where he fights with a girl at the cheesecake factory. He threatens to take her back to the hood and take the keys away from his car. While, the song "9" has a nice beat to it and some nice lyrics.

A flaw that Drake has been told is that he has "ghost writers" who write his lyrics for him. Another critique is that he has been riding his success, his newest projects have not been as good as his older projects by far. Drake is smart and knows that people will listen to it anyway, even if it is not as great as his past work.

Although the album had some highlight songs. A song I liked was "Weston Road Flows," where it showcased a nice beat and some nice lyrics of his beginnings. He raps about his past on this song. Drake even shouts out the great basketball player "Kevin Durant." The songs "Hype" and "Grammys" are good songs. Future in "Grammy's" has a weak verse where he says the same thing over and over again. Wherefore, Future could have had better lyrics in this song, but it is still not a bad song. It is a top five song in the album no debating. "Hype" is a song where he calls out other people with nice bars. It has some nice rhyming bars, where Drake calls out not being afraid of no one. The song is an absolute banger and a standout track on the collection. I also liked the song "Faithful," where it had a nice beat and nice transitions. The song "Too Good" points out his connection and chemistry with Rihanna. Although "Views" does not say anything important, the one big flaw in the album is that there is nothing interesting being said. Overall, "Views" was an album that showed Drake's improvement in his singing voice. This album was not his best, but still a decent album with good production and Drake trying new things.

So whether you like, love, dislike, or hate Drake, he is absolutely one of the best rappers and artists of all time. Drake is all over the place in terms of music, being featured in so many other artist's albums and tapes. The fact is that Drake is unlike many other rappers, he is special and his abilities are unlike anyone else. He is both relatable and he has great emotion that he puts into his work. His singing and rapping complete him as a great artist, you can not question his work ethic. Drake is gaining more ground and becoming one of the best artists of our generation. OVO will live on and so will Drake. He is like the great owl, flying and flying high in the sky. Silent, but deadly, resting on the trees, one thing is for sure you don't want to sleep on him.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
