In the modern world and current society, dating has shifted drastically, and along with it the bar scene has changed. We used to live in a world that used to pride itself on connecting with people and conversation. We now reside in a scene where bars leave conversations inaudible and impossible.
I do not want to sound old and outdated, but thoughtful and reflective of a time when we looked for conversations at bars and clubs, not shallow eye contact and screaming to get a word in. It would be another deal if the scene involved one-night stands, because at least that would be some type of progress or end goal. But in the scene today, women dress gorgeously and guys get faded and dressy, and all of this amounts to absolutely nothing.
The days of buying drinks for others have evidently gone to die and have been replaced by meaningless milling around and shitty dancing. I'm not taking a jab at the music or themes of today but at the shallow nature of our generation.
I suppose the old adage holds true -- to each their own -- and it's evident that many enjoy the lifestyle of going out, being unable to move around tightly packed bars filled with people that hardly talk to one another.
Call me old fashioned, but we need to connect more as a generation. Loud bars are fun and so is mingling, but I would like to hope that the days of conversation and actual connections of intellect are not gone forever.
