Yes, You Should Be Fired If You Sit Or Kneel During The National Anthem

To anyone who supports the actions of Colin Kaepernick,

You can sit down.

Sitting down during the National Anthem is not only a disgrace to yourself but showing how disrespectful you are to many. Is it free speech, yes it is, but should have been handled differently. That being said, him being cut from the 49ers was the best decision to ever have been made in the NFL.

As a "pro" athlete, you are supposed to be Professional about everything you do. Not whine like a baby and pout about something that shouldn't even matter. His reasoning was that he didn't want to "show pride" in a flag that "oppresses black people and people of color." Really? How are you oppressed? Maybe you should go on a ride along with a police officer and see what they really go through. Maybe then you will realize how screwed up society is, first of all, before you start pointing fingers at the people in blue.

Are there terrible cops out there? Yes, but there are twice as many good ones who sacrifice their lives every day to make sure you're still breathing. The Black Lives Matter and Blue Lives Matter movements shouldn't even exist. Why? Because we ALL matter. Everyone is as equal as the person next to them.

First of all, as football being his profession, it has to be about the team in that locker room. Outside of that locker room, when you want to protest, you have every right to do whatever you want on your free time. But you owe it to the other 52 men on that team, the coaches and the owner that are, in this case, paying you $11 million, to be all-in for them and what their trying to accomplish.

No one wants to hear how its bigger than football. If it is, then don't show up and play, that simple. Do something else with it and try to make a difference that way.

Now that preseason has just started, there have still been some protesting of "taking the knee" still going around. The one person who won't have that this year is Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. On CBS Sports Radio's 105.3 The Fan, Jones states that all of his coaches as well as the players should stand and recognize what that flag represents. In a recent article, he was in talks of cutting/firing any who decided to kneel during the national anthem.

Recognizing what that flag really stands for and how all of the people who sacrificed their lives for it so we can have the liberties we have today is far from oppression. We should respect what the flag stands for and stand and put our hands over our hearts and remember that people died for this flag.

If you think what he did was okay, then why don't you sit during the national anthem and see if you keep your job. Maybe then you will rethink what you did and realize it was completely and utterly disrespectful.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
